Job description

Job Description: Seeking a highly motivated engineer for a hands-on role designing hardware for embedded electronic systems. This position involves developing and supporting electronic designs from concept through production, with a focus on single board computers or similar embedded platforms. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in both analog and digital design and is comfortable working across the full product lifecycle. Key Responsibilities: Design, develop, and document electronic systems and components from initial concept through production release. Translate customer or internal requirements into hardware solutions, including defining test and verification strategies. Develop schematics using PCB CAD tools and support board layout through constraints, routing guidelines, and fabrication outputs. Perform analysis such as timing, signal integrity, and overall system performance. Design and simulate digital logic using programmable devices (e.g., FPGA, CPLD) and associated toolchains. Evaluate and select electronic components and create supporting models as needed. Conduct hardware bring-up, testing, and validation, including support for compliance, safety, and environmental standards. Collaborate cross-functionally with mechanical, software, systems, and manufacturing teams to balance design tradeoffs.

Requirements

Hardware, Design, Pcb, Schematic capture, microprocessor, xpedition, ADS, altium, Minimum Requirements: - Bachelor's degree in EE - 5+ years in related electronic circuit design experience - Experience with microprocessor based high-speed PCB design and CAD tools - Familiarity with a variety of test bench equipment - Strong and effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills - Eligibility to work on ITAR projects (US person) Desired Qualifications: - Familiarity with: Xpedition, Altium CAD tools - Keysight ADS simulation tools - FPGA development tools and Verilog or VHDL - ARM and x86 microprocessor and microcontroller designs - Design verification, testing and documentation - US citizenship

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Rockville, MD.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $57.70 - $62.50/hr.
