Job description

This position requires a minimum of two (2) year of IT related experience in application and data support.

Experience must include

  • Front end tools such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern frameworks like React and Angular.
  • Java, Python, or .NET/C# for building back-end services and APIs
  • SQL for creating and maintaining database queries.
  • Code repository and DevOps tools such as GitHub.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively in a manner that facilitates mutual understanding.
  • Customer-focused approach grounded in active listening, empathy, and solution-oriented problem-solving to deliver positive user experiences.

Education in Information Technology (IT) or an IT related field may substitute for experience as follows: a master's degree for eighteen (18) months of experience; a bachelor's degree for one (1) year; and an associate's degree for six (6) months., * Proven experience working with multiple IT services (applications, data, infrastructure, service desk, project).

  • Ability to effectively deliver complex technical solutions that meet business needs and follow MNIT standards.
  • Ability to effectively work with multiple IT services (apps, data, infra, service desk).
  • Ability to effectively serve as a technical liaison between business, IT, and third-party vendors/contractors.
  • Ability to effectively work directly with customers to identify, define, validate and prioritize user needs and requirements.

Strongly Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting or developing full-stack applications that include front-end components, back-end services, databases, and system integrations.
  • Ability to develop solutions using Power Platform technologies such as Power Apps, Power Automate and Power BI.

As an Application and Data Support Specialist with Minnesota IT Services (MNIT) and Minnesota Department of Transportation (DOT), you will provide MNIT DOT application and data support services for commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) and custom-built per the priorities set by the supervisor. You will be responsible for collaborative application and data support in a matrixed environment with IT service owners, process owners, process managers, architects, and IT team leads that provide direction for the connected IT services. You will communicate, coordinate, deliver and/or resolve application and data support service tasks to ensure MnDOT applications are supported per the application's service level agreement, support model, and to the satisfaction of the MnDOT business partner. This position requires an employee to be onsite at 395 John Ireland Blvd, St. Paul, Minnesota at least 50% of the time, with some opportunity to perform work from a telework location.
