Job description
- The MDS Department Section Leader will have a technical role on a program and will provide guidance and leadership to a section of 15 to 20 Engineers.
- The candidate will act as a key leader and mentor in the department, employing leadership, presence and influence skills while fostering teamwork and interdependent execution.
- Responsible for the sustainment, assessment and development of the section.
- Ensure section members adhere to policy, vision, values, and goals
- Communicate flow-down to section members.
- Performance development which includes collecting and providing performance feedback to section members. Support section member's yearly performance goal development.
- Support section salary and labor planning.
- Career and job assignment mentoring.
Requirements
Ability to obtain INTERIM U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date, * Typically requires a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
- Experience in software development, integration or test using C, C++, Java, or Ada.
- Leadership experience managing teams or sections within a defense software development program.
- Experience developing software in a team-based development environment, preferably using the Agile Scrum or Kanban framework.
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S Government Secret security clearance prior to the start date. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance., * Extensive experience as a leader of software development, integration or test activities on a defense software development program.
- Proven success in mentoring and developing engineering talent, both technically and professionally.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills and ability to effectively interact with subordinates, customers, and other internal organizations.
- High energy, self-starting team player who achieves goals and promotes continuous improvement.
- In-depth radar domain knowledge (EWR, AN/TPY-2, XBR, CK, DBR, AMDR, etc.).
- Software Cost estimation experience.
- Strong strategic planning and decision-making skills.
- Six Sigma, CORE, EVMS, Software Project Management Certification and PMX certifications

Benefits & conditions
The salary range for this role is 132,400 USD - 251,600 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
