Job description
- Ensuring compliance with DoD frameworks such as Risk Management Framework (RMF), STIGs, and cybersecurity requirements
- Defining system architecture, interfaces, data flows, and integration with legacy and tactical systems
- Leading technical decisions across classified and unclassified environments
- Collaborating with government stakeholders, program managers, and engineering teams to align technical solutions with mission objectives
- Evaluating and implementing secure technologies suitable for air-gapped, on-premise, and cloud (e.g., GovCloud) environments
- Supporting Authority to Operate (ATO) processes and documentation
- Providing guidance on secure coding practices and system hardening
- Conducting architecture reviews, code reviews, and risk assessments
- Mentoring engineering teams and enforcing engineering standards and best practices
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or related field
- Eight or more years of software development experience
- Experience working on DoD or federal government contracts
- Strong knowledge of secure system architecture and cybersecurity principles
- Experience with architecture patterns (micro-services, service-oriented, event-driven, and monolithic systems)
- Proficiency in languages such as Java, C++, or Python
- Experience with Linux-based systems and secure environments
- Familiarity with DoD compliance standards (RMF, NIST 800-53, STIGs)
Desired Skills
- Active security clearance (active Secret and must be eligible for Top Secret)
- Three or more years in architecture or technical leadership roles
- Experience with U.S. Department of Defense cloud environments (e.g., AWS GovCloud, Azure Government)
- Knowledge of containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) in secure environments
- Experience with embedded systems, real-time systems, or naval platforms
