Job description

  • Develop, write, and maintain technical documentation including system user guides, standard operating procedures, configuration documentation, release notes, training materials, and program artifacts.
  • Translate complex technical information from engineers, developers, analysts, and cybersecurity personnel into clear, concise, and user-friendly content.
  • Support documentation updates for system enhancements, data workflows, and capabilities tied to the LADS modernization roadmap.
  • Ensure compliance with NIWC Atlantic standards, style guides, security requirements, and documentation processes.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including software development, data engineering, testing, program management, and government stakeholders.
  • Edit and proofread documents for structure, clarity, grammar, and consistency.
  • Assist in preparing briefing materials, reports, and technical presentations for internal and external audiences.
  • Maintain version control across all documentation and support configuration management practices.
  • Contribute to process improvement by recommending documentation standards, formats, and templates.

Requirements

Five Rivers Analytics is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Technical Writer to support the Logistics Analysis Data System (LADS) program at NIWC Atlantic. The ideal candidate will create, edit, and maintain technical documentation that clearly communicates complex information to both technical and non-technical audiences. This role plays a critical part in ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance across all LADS program documentation, reports, and communications., * Bachelor's degree in English, Technical Writing, Communications, Information Systems, or related field; or equivalent experience.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain Secret Clearance. 3+ years of experience as a Technical Writer supporting IT, analytics, or software development programs.

  • Strong ability to synthesize technical content from diverse subject matter experts.

  • Experience supporting DoD, Navy, or government programs.

  • Excellent writing, editing, and document organization skills.

  • Proficiency with documentation tools such as Microsoft Office, Confluence, SharePoint, or similar environments.

  • U.S. Citizenship.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with NIWC Atlantic processes, Navy logistics systems, or the LADS environment.
  • Experience documenting data systems, data workflows, software architectures, or cloud-based solutions.
  • Understanding of Agile/Scrum environments and documentation in iterative development cycles.
  • Active DoD security clearance (Secret or higher).
  • Experience with graphics tools for diagrams or visual aids (Visio, Draw.io, etc.).
