Job description
The Data Architect is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the data infrastructure and solutions that enable efficient and secure collection, storage, and analysis of healthcare data in different data platforms (Data Warehouse & Data Lake). This role involves working range of stakeholders including business and IT teams to ensure data architecture supports business needs while adhering to compliance and security standards. The ideal candidate will have experience in HEDIS, CMS Interoperability (FHIR).
Work Arrangement
- This is a hybrid, office based position at our Ellis Preserve office in Newtown Square, PA. You will work 3 days per week in the office (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday), and 2 days remotely (Monday and Friday). WE WILL NOT CONSDIER REMOTE CANDIDATES!
Responsibilities
- Design and implement integrated, scalable, efficient, and secure data systems for storing, processing, to support healthcare analytics and data driven decision making
- Design and implement scalable, flexible, and secure interoperability solutions aligned to USCDI-US Core compliant
- Develop and maintain data models (logical, physical and conceptual) that support healthcare-specific requirements (Clinical, Claims, Member, Provider, EHR etc.) and other data architecture artifacts
- Evaluate and recommend data management technologies, platforms, frameworks, and methodologies that optimize data collection and integration for healthcare applications
- Oversee the implementation of data governance policies to ensure data integrity, quality, security, and compliance and other relevant healthcare regulations to protect sensitive patient information with HIPAA standards
- Ensure data architecture complies with healthcare regulations such as HIPAA, GDPR, and other privacy laws
- Collaborate with Business data analysts, data scientists, IT Professionals and business leaders to understand their data needs and ensure architecture supports organizational goals
- Optimize data storage solutions, reducing latency and ensuring quick access to real-time and historical data
- Help to establish and enforce data governance frameworks, ensuing data consistency, quality, and standardization across systems
- Stay updated on emerging technologies in healthcare data management
- Propose innovative solutions to enhance data-driven decision-making
- Provide training and guidance to other team members
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
- At least ten (10)+ years of experience in Data Architecture, preferably in the healthcare industry
- At least five (5)+ years of experience with managing large-scale data systems in healthcare
- At least five (5)+ years of experience in designing and implementing interoperability solutions in healthcare
- Must have previous experience work for a healthcare MCO / Payer, or on the Provider side
- At least five (5)+ years of experience in solutioning cloud data platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP, Databricks, Snowflake etc.)
- Expertise in Data Architecture, databases, and cloud platforms (Azure, GCP, AWS etc.)
- In-depth knowledge of healthcare interoperability standards (HL7, FHIR, CCDs, HIE, USCDI-US Core etc.)
- Proficiency in SQL and NoSQL databases, PySpark and Python
- Experience with data modeling tools like Erwin; experience with dimensional data modeling
- Experience with integration tools like Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Kafka, IBM Datastage, Informatica etc
- Understanding of business intelligence (BI) and analytics platforms
- Experience with major EHR systems like Epic, Cerner etc. is plus
- Candidates need to be independent thought leaders and able to self-direct
- Possess expertise and sound foundation in data management techniques & principles
- Hands on experience in end-to-end data processing is a must
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
