Job description
You will report directly to our Sr. Director, Engineering and you'll work out of our Atlanta, GA location on a Hybrid work schedule.
Hybrid Work Schedule Note: For the first 90 days, New Hires must be prepared to work 100% onsite M-F, Lead Software Architect for EPMS product development, owning end-to-end architecture for cloud-enabled energy management platforms.
Role requires approximately 60% EPMS / power systems domain depth and 40% hands-on software architecture across Java, .NET, React JS, microservices, and Azure cloud technologies.
Working knowledge of AI with exposure to LLM's and Agentic AI.
Define scalable product architecture for EPMS applications, including domain services, real-time integration, data ingestion, APIs, user interfaces, and cloud deployment patterns.
Own architecture decisions across .NET / C#, React JS front ends, event-driven microservices, Azure services, and DevOps practices.
Guide engineering teams on secure coding, API standards, service decomposition, resilience, observability, performance, and maintainability.
Hands-on architecture and development experience using .NET / C#, RESTful APIs, React JS, TypeScript / JavaScript, and modern UI component practices.
Strong microservices design experience, including domain-driven design, service-to-service communication, API gateways, message/event-based integration, containerization, CI/CD, automated testing, logging, monitoring, and production support.
Deep Azure cloud experience with Azure App Service, AKS or containers, Azure Functions, Azure Service Bus or Event Grid, Azure SQL / Cosmos DB, Azure Storage, Key Vault, Azure Monitor / Application Insights, Azure DevOps, and secure identity patterns.
Maintain strong EPMS emphasis: power monitoring, energy management, electrical distribution systems, one-line / three-line concepts, alarm/event handling, meter and device integration, SCADA / automation interfaces, and real-time operational workflows.
Apply microgrid, DER, BESS, islanding, grid-connected operation, power flow management, energy optimization, and control strategy knowledge into product architecture and engineering decisions.
Understanding of Building Automation domain, HVAC, Energy meters and control system ( Knowledge on Niagara framework would be a plus)
Collaborate with power systems SMEs to translate EPMS domain requirements into product capabilities, data models, analytics, controls interfaces, and scalable cloud services.
Partner with product managers, domain SMEs, UX, firmware / controls, QA, DevOps, cybersecurity, and customer-facing teams to convert EPMS use cases into prioritized product architecture and delivery plans.
Balance product scalability, usability, compliance, cybersecurity, operational reliability, and domain accuracy in architectural trade-off decisions.
Requirements
6+ years of software engineering / architecture experience, preferably in product development environments.
6+ years in EPMS, power monitoring, electrical distribution, microgrids, DER, BESS, SCADA, or related energy management systems.
Hands-on technical depth in .NET / C#, React JS, microservices, REST APIs, cloud-native architecture, Azure cloud services, DevOps, CI/CD, security, and observability.
Proven ability to lead architecture for complex platforms with cross-functional engineering teams and domain SMEs.
WE VALUE
Master's or bachelor's degree in computer science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
Experience with IoT, data analytics, and real-time systems is a plus, Due to compliance with U.S. export control laws and regulations, candidate must be a U.S. Person, which is defined as, a U.S. citizen, a U.S. permanent resident, or have protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status or have the ability to obtain an export authorization
