The Senior Systems Engineer - Security and Surveillance serves as a technical advisor and subject matter expert (SME) for a large-scale, enterprise video surveillance and physical security environment. This role provides strategic guidance, engineering oversight, and hands-on expertise to ensure 24/7 system reliability, security compliance, and optimal analytics performance across the organization's security systems infrastructure., * Serve as the technical advisor and program SME for enterprise Video Management Systems (VMS) and security platforms.
- Provide expert guidance on video analytics configuration, tuning, validation, and optimization.
- Support oversight of Windows Server infrastructure, including patching strategies, monitoring, hardening, and capacity planning.
- Recommend and support database maintenance, index optimization, and performance improvements to ensure system stability and scalability.
- Maintain and review site IP matrices, network diagrams, and as-built documentation.
- Advise on and evaluate third-party system integrations and cross-system data bridges (e.g., access control, emergency communications, analytics platforms).
- Act as the technical liaison between engineering teams, field technicians, and vendors; provide guidance on hardware compatibility and deployment coordination.
- Support development of technical reports, operational documentation, and training materials for internal and external stakeholders.
- Advise on spare parts inventory strategy, lifecycle planning, and downtime mitigation approaches.
- Provide escalation-level engineering support during critical incidents or system outages., * BA/BS Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field and 6 years of experience as a Systems Engineer, Field Engineer, or Integration Engineer supporting security and surveillance systems or demonstrated eqivalency of experience and/or education.
Requirements
- Experience of enterprise VMS platforms and video analytics configuration and performance tuning.
- Experience administering Windows Server environments (2016 or later).
- Experience with database maintenance and performance optimization (SQL-based systems preferred).
- Experience in understanding of networking fundamentals, IP addressing, VLANs, bandwidth management, and IP device administration.
- Full project lifecycle experience, including procurement, system design, deployment, testing, training, and operational handoff.
- Experience with documentation, reporting, and stakeholder communication skills.
- Experience supporting public sector, transit, or law enforcement clients.
- Experience with third-party system integrations, such as access control systems and emergency communications platforms.
- Industry certifications such as Microsoft, networking, or VMS manufacturer certifications.
- Experience working in large-scale, highly regulated, or mission-critical environments.
- Familiarity with system resilience strategies, high availability architectures, and disaster recovery planning.
Benefits & conditions
Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is $120000 to $160000.
