The IT Technical Associate (Senior Database Administrator) ensures the availability, performance, reliability, and recoverability of UI Health's high-availability database environments across Production, Test, and QA systems. The role is responsible for implementing, maintaining, monitoring, and troubleshooting enterprise databases, administering Oracle and SQL Server technologies, coordinating database services with IT teams and vendors, and supporting on-call and disaster recovery activities., * Monitor database environments for continual availability, high performance, and security.
- Lead in the design, development and implementation of infrastructure for database high availability and disaster recovery.
- Identify process improvements, automate deployment tasks, and promote innovative solutions to common business tasks.
- Develop custom scripts to automate various database management processes.
- Assist in defining and enforcing database standards, best practices, methodologies, processes and procedures.
- Design and develop reports and handle ad-hoc data requests.
- Install, configure, and integrate third party applications and tools as needed.
- Manage problems and problem escalations in accordance with ITIL standards.
- Develop and manage projects and project plans.
- Manages license and hardware life cycle with technology refresh schedule.
- Provide support to critical production systems on Campus.
- Identify, troubleshoot and resolve database issues.
- Troubleshoot database and application errors.
- On-call 24x7 operational support.
- Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
Requirements
Do you have experience in System tuning?, Do you have a Bachelor's degree?, * Bachelor Degree - Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems Management, related information management field or a clinical area of study.
- Minimum of four (4) years professional level IT experience within Database Design and Administration which includes; Demonstrated experience in the design implementation, maintenance, monitoring, performance analysis, trouble shooting, problem resolution, and user assistance required of the database environments or related Clinical Experience.
- Minimum 4 years of experience as a Database Administrator. Experience with Oracle Database Server or Microsoft SQL Server, Structured Query Language (SQL), SQL Server technologies, Cache' or Sybase.
- Experience with performance monitoring and tuning using statspack and database management tools (such as OEM/GRID Control).
- Experience with enterprise level backup and recovery.
Preferred Qualifications
- DBA certifications in Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, or cloud platforms preferred.
- Strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle Database, advanced SQL (ANSI-standard), T-SQL, stored procedures, and query optimization.
- Hands-on experience with Veeam Backup & Replication for SQL Server, including application-aware backups, transaction log backups, point-in-time restores, and disaster recovery testing.
- Experience with high availability, backup, and recovery (Always On, RAC/Data Guard, PITR, RPO/RTO).
- Working knowledge of data pipelines and ETL processes (SSIS, Azure Data Factory or equivalent), including data ingestion, transformation, scheduling, and performance impact on SQL Server.
- Performance monitoring and tuning using Datadog, SQL Server Query Store, and related tools.
- Experience supporting enterprise and hybrid environments, including Azure and AWS SQL platforms.
- Advanced knowledge of Windows, Linux/UNIX, and networking concepts (IP addressing, VPNs, firewalls).
