Job description
We are seeking a Linux Engineer for a strategic platform engineering role focused on enterprise Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environments. This position involves the design, implementation, and operation of shared cloud and on-premise platforms to enable engineering teams to deliver software safely and reliably. The role emphasizes platform evolution and ownership within a hybrid infrastructure, with minimal day-to-day incident support. - Design, build, and evolve enterprise Linux platforms to meet business needs.
- Manage the platform lifecycle, including vulnerability remediation and risk mitigation.
- Contribute to the platform roadmap and overall engineering strategy.
- Deploy, configure, and support Linux server environments and core services.
- Develop technical standards and evaluate new technologies.
- Collaborate with senior engineers, architects, and cross-functional teams, including networking and security., This is a hybrid role requiring on-site presence three days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday). The position operates within a tiered support model, where this role focuses on engineering and platform ownership, while a separate tier handles incident support. The environment is automation-heavy and involves high interaction with security and risk teams.
Requirements
Education: An undergraduate degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of training and experience is required.
Experience: A minimum of five years of related work experience is required, including specific experience supporting Linux server and virtualization platforms.
Technical Skills:
- Strong engineering experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL 7/8/9).
- Experience with automation tools such as Puppet, Ansible and/or Github.
- Proficiency with AWS infrastructure, particularly EC2-based environments.
- A working knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles and tools like Terraform.
- Familiarity with industry security principles and practices.
- Strong troubleshooting and operational support skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience handling enterprise security findings and compliance requirements.
- Exposure to large-scale enterprise governance environments.
Benefits & conditions
This is a 6-month contract-to-hire opportunity. The salary range upon conversion is from $90,000 to $180,000, dependent on experience and level. The compensation package includes a yearly performance bonus, a partner bonus, and a 401(k) plan with a company contribution.
