Job description

The UI/UX Engineer has the following responsibilities:
The position's purpose should provide a high-level overview of why the position exists and briefly identify the most critical priorities of the position. This is an opportunity to highlight any features or duties of the role related explicitly to the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging work of the Department.
- Collaborate with product managers to transform wireframes into compelling UI designs.
- Manage atomic style guide systems across retainers and projects.
- Engage with team for end-to-end project understanding, tailoring solutions to suit to the project needs.
Requirements
The successful candidate will have a demonstrated understanding of our mission, commitment to excellence through inclusive and equitable behaviors and practices, ability to quickly build credibility with stakeholders, along with the following competencies and experience, * Minimum 3-4 years of dedicated UI / interaction design experience .
- Strong portfolio demonstrating production UI work - component libraries, design systems contribution, multi-screen flows, responsive design.
- Advanced proficiency in Figma, including auto-layout, variants, component properties, and interactive prototyping.
- Working knowledge of design tokens and design system principles.
- Solid grasp of visual hierarchy, typography, color systems, spacing, and accessibility fundamentals.
- Ability to take design direction and iterate efficiently through review cycles.
- Clear written and verbal communication; ability to present and defend design decisions in working sessions.
- Skill in distilling complex user data into compelling narratives through creative frameworks and storytelling
- Comfort working in an environment where multiple products and stakeholders compete for attention; able to prioritize effectively.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in relevant field (e.g. Engineering, Analytics or Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics) or equivalent experience.
Additional Desired Preferences
- Experience contributing to or building a design system in Figma.
- Experience designing for both web and mobile applications.
- Working knowledge of motion and interaction design (UI animations, micro-interactions, transitions).
- Front-end development understanding (HTML, CSS, basic JavaScript) sufficient to collaborate effectively with engineering and reason about implementation feasibility.
- Familiarity with regulated industries (pharma, healthcare, finance, govtech) is a plus but not required.
- Experience working with engineering teams using JIRA / Confluence.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted design and prototyping tools (e.g., Figma Make, Claude, v0)
- Ability to work autonomously and strategically.
- Excellent Communication & writing skills.
- Solution-oriented, constructive approach to problem-solving.
- Proven organizational and multi-tasking skills.
