Job description

Industrial Robotics is seeking exceptional talent to help us develop the next generation of advanced robotics systems that will transform automation at Amazon's scale. We're building revolutionary robotic systems that combine AI, sophisticated control systems, and advanced mechanical design to create intelligent automation solutions capable of working safely alongside humans in dynamic environments. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of robotics and automation at an unprecedented scale, working with world-class teams pushing the boundaries of what's possible in robotic manipulation, locomotion, and human-robot interaction. The ideal candidate is a top-notch embedded software developer, passionate about building innovative solutions and enjoys solving problems in creative ways. As a part of the firmware development team, you will work on robotic control and safety systems to deliver features to enhance and maintain the most critical components of Amazon's Fulfillment solution. In addition to working on new products and ideas, you should demonstrate a strong ability to identify issues and show bias for action to drive resolution of these issues. The ideal candidate has broad and deep technical knowledge, ranging from experience with "big data" through to embedded systems and all points in between. This will include strong software design and implementation experience, as well as a deep understanding in some specialty areas such as image processing, wireless, networking, and an in-depth knowledge of Linux tools and architecture. In this position, these skills will be applied to help ensure that our robotic platforms are designed and implemented to the highest standards and built for resilience. This position will provide you with an opportunity to work across development teams to design solutions and critical products at a massive scale. Key Job Responsibilities

  • Participate as an active member of the firmware team, developing and maintaining the firmware base of our robotic fleet and safety systems
  • Learn and master multiple components within the firmware environment, potentially including areas such as cameras, WiFi, security, navigation, sensors, and more
  • Work with and lead teams of high-caliber firmware developers on critical products
  • Demonstrate best engineering practices, documentation, and ownership

A Day in the Life As an Embedded Software Engineer, you will work with cross-functional teams to develop, test, and debug complex modern robotic systems. The development process will involve participating in design discussions, brainstorming novel approaches to the hardest problems in robotics, and implementing new product concepts and features. Testing efforts will involve writing automated tests to validate newly created features or conducting live testing to debug and root cause issues.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Software engineering?, Do you have a Bachelor's degree?, * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or other related discipline

  • 3+ years of development experience within an embedded environment. This must include hands-on experience designing, developing, and debugging production-quality products
  • Familiar with building solutions that scale
  • Has a mature understanding of how product development occurs, including being able to make complex business/risk trade-off recommendations and decisions
  • Demonstrable experience with Linux and C, and preferably experience with other RTOS systems as well
  • Experience with image and visual processing or work with sensing devices such as cameras, radars, lidars

Preferred Qualifications

  • Can work proactively and independently, meet deadlines, and deliver on projects and tasks
  • Hands-on knowledge of developing a product to be certified to the IEC 61508 industrial safety standards or similar standards such as medical, automotive, or avionics
  • Technical knowledge in at least one of the following systems: wireless, networking, or electro-mechanical control systems
  • Experience in generating automated metrics to measure quality and/or product effectiveness and consistency
  • Excellent leadership, teamwork, and collaboration skills with a high level of attention to detail
  • Excellent written communication skills, with a focus on clarity and translating technically complex issues into simple, easy-to-understand concepts
