Job description
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior CAD Design Engineer to join our dynamic and growing automotive engineering team in Farmington Hills. This role is pivotal in supporting automotive chassis engineering programs, focusing on suspension, braking, steering, and prop shaft systems. The successful candidate will engage extensively in CATIA V5 and 3DEXPERIENCE (3DX) modeling, emphasizing parametric design, data management, and support for Ford programs., * Create and maintain 3D CAD models and 2D drawings using CATIA V5 and 3DEXPERIENCE.
- Support multiple engineering programs across chassis systems, including suspension, brakes, steering, and driveline.
- Apply parametric modeling techniques, such as formulas, feature linking, publications, and contextual design, to drive efficient design updates.
- Build and manage top-down/skeleton models and assemblies with proper constraints and design intent.
- Ensure design compliance with GD&T, tolerance stack-ups, and manufacturability requirements.
- Perform or support FEA and validation activities as needed.
- Manage and release CAD data through Teamcenter/PLM systems.
- Collaborate with internal teams and customers, primarily Ford, to support design updates, releases, and engineering changes.
Requirements
- 5+ years of CATIA V5 experience in automotive product design.
- Experience with 3DEXPERIENCE (3DX) or cloud-based CAD environments.
- Strong parametric modeling skills, including formulas, linking parameters to features, and design intent.
- Experience with contextual design and publications for model updates.
- Surface and solid modeling experience (Class A not required, but surfacing is important).
- Understanding of GD&T, Tolerance stack-ups, and FEA fundamentals.
- Experience with assembly design, including constraints and skeleton/top-down modeling.
- Proficiency in Teamcenter or similar PLM systems for creating, uploading, and managing 2D/3D data.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Exposure to OEM programs is strongly preferred, particularly Ford, GM, and Stellantis standards/data release processes.
Benefits & conditions
This position is primarily based in a professional business office located in Farmington Hills, with exposure to testing areas and periodic exposure to manufacturing environments. The engineering center is integrated with three additional companies within the chassis division, focusing on suspensions, dampers, shock absorbers, brakes, steering, and prop shafts. All engineers operate from this central location.

This is a Contract position based out of Farmington Hills, MI.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $48.00/hr.
