Job description
- Provides expert accessibility and usability feedback in the areas of design (UX/UI), development, and testing to teams
- Engages in quality audits and assist with remediation roadmaps
- Functions as a subject matter expert on accessibility, staying ahead of trends in disability advocacy, universal and inclusive design, and web standards.
- Collaborates with designers to review designs ensuring that accessibility is baked into the product before development starts
- Assists developers in addressing accessibility challenges by delivering specifications and providing functional prototypes of solutions
- Works with product teams to provide manual and automated reviews, diagnose issues and recommend solutions
- Facilitates and encourages collaboration and transparency across disciplines
- Assists in the development of training and education materials
- Evaluates third party tool and assist in implementation of new tools
- Mentors and trains Accessibility Analysts in standard methodologies, systems and processes
- Provides guidance and direction for accessibility program overall
- Collaborates with user researchers and represent users internally
- Prioritizes and defines approaches to understand the user story, guiding others in doing so
- Provides peer-review of other analyst's annotation and recommendations
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in relevant field and six (6) years experience performing accessibility testing
- Or High School Diploma or GED and ten (10) years of related post-secondary education and/or experience in performing accessibility testing
- Ability to collaborate productively both independently and with diverse teams
- Ability to hand-code HTML, CSS and JavaScript - inspect the code, analyze the violations, remediate in the browser's rendered code, and retest
- Ability to recommend technical solutions for several technology stacks, for example, mobile, React (single-page applications), dotnet, etc.
- Ability to mentor others in methods and techniques for addressing accessibility barriers on web applications and mobile devices and in a variety of forums
- Advanced soft skills and mastery of working with teams with varied levels of understanding of inclusive design or accessibility
- Consumer-centric; empathetic toward the customer with the ability to put oneself in their shoes
- Demonstrated confidence using a range of assistive technologies, including JAWS, NVDA, iOS VoiceOver, Android Talkback, etc.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills
- Experienced working in an agile environment
- In depth understanding of ADA standards, including edge cases
