Job description

The Implementations Engineer II supports TEKsystems by configuring, activating, and operationalizing network circuits and equipment in an enterprise environment. This role is part of an activations and implementations team responsible for bringing new circuits online, coordinating with customers and remote field technicians, and ensuring all services are delivered in compliance with established standards. Engineers in this role are expected to be self-driven, trustworthy, and capable of working independently while maintaining reach-back support when needed. Key Responsibilities The Implementations Engineer performs customer coordination, Initial Test and Acceptance (IT&A), execution of required reporting, and complete data entry associated with new network equipment and service activations. The role ensures all implementations meet TEKsystems standards and technical requirements. Responsibilities include configuring and maintaining an out-of-band management network using Cisco and Juniper devices, applying baseline configurations customized for each site, and performing software upgrades on network devices. The engineer creates and updates project planning documentation, including IP addressing schemes, subnet selection, management IP assignments, and port assignments on management nodes. The role involves verifying all points of contact, locations, and interface details for accuracy and proper formatting, as well as validating circuit path information across all locations involved. The engineer engages with project managers and customers to resolve incomplete or unclear requirements, facilitates approvals, and maintains forward progress on service requests. Additional duties include performing systems analysis, consulting with users to determine hardware, software, or functional requirements, and supporting network activation, testing, and troubleshooting activities. The engineer orders services on behalf of customers, inputs service requests into internal ordering systems, and provides proactive customer outreach to ensure accuracy throughout the implementation process. Technical Skills and Experience

Requirements

This role requires strong hands-on networking knowledge, including Layer 1, Layer 2, and Layer 3 troubleshooting, basic routing, and configuration experience. Candidates should be proficient with enterprise networking concepts and technologies such as BGP, OSPF, DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP, WAN, VPNs, VLANs, VRFs, and trunking. Experience with router-to-router connections, switch-to-switch trunking, circuit configurations, and multiplexers is expected. Familiarity with Cisco and Juniper network devices is required, including configuration, activation, testing, and analysis. The engineer should have experience in network engineering, problem management, performance management, and evaluating or recommending new technologies to enhance existing network capabilities. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, along with the ability to work effectively with customers, project managers, and technical teams of varying experience levels. Qualifications Candidates must possess an active Secret security clearance and meet DoD 8570 IAT Level II requirements with a Security+ CE or equivalent certification. Required experience includes one of the following: a bachelor's degree plus three years of networking experience; an associate's degree plus seven years of recent specialized networking experience; or a CCNA plus seven years of recent specialized networking experience. Preferred qualifications include prior experience working in similar enterprise or government network environments, familiarity with internal ordering systems, and experience with SharePoint-based data entry or order processing. Work Environment and Value Proposition This is an on-site position located at Ford Island, requiring five days per week on location. The role supports TEKsystems' modernization efforts and offers the opportunity to join a high-visibility team actively upgrading enterprise network infrastructure. The position exists due to net new growth and plays a critical role in addressing implementation capacity gaps to support ongoing modernization initiatives.
