Job description
The Senior Linux System Administrator supports the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract. The candidate will:
- Build, configure, deploy, administer, maintain and troubleshoot virtual and physical servers/systems
- Ensure system changes are completed in accordance with developer documentation, configuration management and documentation practices
- Install, configure, and manage RHEL and other Linux-based systems
- Perform necessary physical inspections and research using system/event logs and appropriate tools/software to identify problems, trends and aid in troubleshooting actions
- Advise leadership and make appropriate technical recommendations regarding system operation issues and improvements, optimization tools and methods, and process development
- Assist integration managers in problem definition and root cause analysis as needed
- Provide timely updates to appropriate team leads, managers and stakeholders on status of tasks and troubleshooting efforts
- Make recommendations to plan, develop and execute work actions that achieve critical-path requirements
- Identify documentation errors and provide recommendations to appropriate personnel for correction
- Use REMEDY ticketing system to report, track and document problem and resolution life-cycle actions on faulty systems
- Perform evening shift work and weekend duty as needed to meet off-hour mission activities

Requirements
- Must have 08, or more, years of general (full-time) work experience
- May be reduced with completion of advanced education
- Must have 06, or more, years of directly related experience in IT systems, installing and configuring operating systems and virtual machines, and troubleshooting
- Must have 1, or more, years of experience working in a management or leadership role
- Must have experience with Multi Factor Authentication methodology
- Must have experience building, configuring and deploying servers/systems in a virtualized environment
- Must have administration experience on RHEL 8/9 using Command Line Interface
- Must be able to interface with software engineers, system engineers, and subject matter experts to solve complex integration and technical problems
- Must have a current DoW approved 8570 Level II certification such as Security+ CE
- Must have an active DoW Secret Security Clearance
Desired Requirements:
- Have experience working with Ansible automation
- Have experience configuring and managing NetApp storage devices
- Have experience with security patching and software management using RHEL Satellite
- Have network troubleshooting experience
- Have knowledge of Missile Defense, DoD communications systems and MDIOC operations
- Have Project Management experience
- Have a Degree in an IT or Engineering related discipline
