Job description

SelectTech is seeking a Design Engineer III to join our innovative engineering team at our Springfield, OH facility. In this role, you will design and detail systems, subsystems, and components for both custom-built and standard product lines across aerospace and ground-based applications. Projects may involve mechanical, structural, cosmetic, EWIS (Electrical Wiring Interconnection Systems), electronics, and electro-mechanical systems.

This position requires expertise in electrical and mechanical design practices, knowledge of ASME drawing standards (GD&T), and strong skills in 3D modeling and 2D drafting using tools such as SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, Altium PCB Designer, and AutoCAD Electrical.

What You'll Do Design & Development

  • Collaborate with engineering, production, and management teams to design systems for aerospace and ground-based platforms.
  • Convert concepts into production-ready models and drawings using CAD software.
  • Develop and interpret electrical schematics, circuit diagrams, and technical drawings.
  • Ensure all designs meet safety, reliability, and performance standards.
  • Analyze and document product performance against requirements.

Verification & Validation

  • Review and validate the accuracy of drawings and schematics.
  • Provide redline markups, corrections, and revisions to improve design efficiency.
  • Ensure documentation is clear, accurate, and fully traceable.

Troubleshooting

  • Partner with engineering and production teams to diagnose and resolve design and system issues.
  • Use mechanical drawings and schematics to determine solutions for both mechanical and electronic systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering, OR 7-10 years of relevant industry experience in lieu of degree.
  • Proficiency in 3D parametric design with Autodesk Inventor or Dassault SolidWorks.
  • Strong knowledge of materials properties, components, and hardware.
  • Experience applying ASME standards and GD&T.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001/AS 9100 standards.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong documentation skills throughout the design lifecycle.
  • Capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Security Clearance.
