Job description
The Associate Director of Technology and Data leads and manages all technology systems, data infrastructure, and information systems across the organization. This role is responsible for overseeing the planning, implementation, maintenance, security, and continuous improvement of the school's technology and data systems to support operational excellence, instructional effectiveness, compliance, and organizational growth. The Associate Director partners with school leadership, instructional staff, operations teams, vendors, and external stakeholders to ensure that technology and data systems effectively support the organization's mission and goals., * Partner with school leadership and stakeholders to implement technology systems that improve instruction, operations, communication, and organizational effectiveness.
- Develop and execute short- and long-term technology plans aligned to organizational priorities, compliance requirements, operational needs, and budget considerations.
- Research, evaluate, and recommend technology tools, systems, and infrastructure that increase efficiency, strengthen user experience, and support academic goals.
- Collaborate with instructional leaders to ensure technology supports the New Jersey Student Learning Standards and the organization's educational priorities.
- Manage relationships with vendors, contractors, consultants, and state representatives to ensure projects, services, and compliance requirements are completed effectively and on schedule.
- Lead technology implementation and change management efforts, including staff training and adoption support.
Student Information Systems and Compliance
- Serve as the primary administrator for PowerSchool SIS, overseeing student enrollment, scheduling, attendance, grading, records management, and reporting functions.
- Ensure accurate and timely completion of all NJDOE reporting requirements, including NJ SMART, SID management, course rosters, Special Education submissions, and related compliance reporting.
- Manage integrations between PowerSchool, Google Workspace, Clever, assessment platforms, and other organizational systems to maintain reliable system functionality and data flow.
- Provide technical support for SIS-related issues and support family access to the PowerSchool Parent Portal.
- Maintain accurate, secure, and compliant student and organizational records across all data systems.
Data Management and Analysis
- Oversee systems for collecting, organizing, and analyzing student, staff, and organizational data to support continuous improvement and strategic decision-making.
- Develop dashboards, reports, and performance trackers that provide leadership teams with actionable information related to student achievement, attendance, assessment outcomes, and organizational performance.
- Analyze data trends and present findings that inform instructional planning, interventions, resource allocation, and operational priorities.
- Ensure compliance with data privacy, security, and confidentiality requirements across all systems and reporting practices.
Technology Operations and Infrastructure
- Oversee the maintenance and functionality of organizational technology infrastructure, including hardware, software, network systems, communication systems, alarms, and operational technology.
- Coordinate technology access and account management for onboarding, offboarding, and staff transitions.
- Monitor and strengthen cybersecurity systems and protocols, including firewalls, antivirus protections, servers, and user access controls.
- Lead all technology preparation and support for state testing to ensure secure, efficient, and compliant administration.
- Manage school communication and operational systems used for emergency notifications, scheduling updates, drills, and daily operations.
- Provide training and ongoing support to staff on organizational technology systems and tools.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues to minimize disruptions to instruction and operations.

- Ensure technology and data systems operate efficiently, securely, and reliably in support of teaching, learning, and organizational operations.
- Improve organizational decision-making through accessible, accurate, and actionable data systems.
- Maintain compliance with all state reporting, testing, and data management requirements.
- Strengthen operational efficiency through streamlined systems, effective technology integration, and responsive technical support.
- Perform other duties within the scope of employment and certification as assigned.
Requirements
Do you have experience in Vendor relationship building?, Do you have a Bachelor's degree?, * Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Educational Technology, Data Management, Computer Science, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in technology systems management, data management, or educational technology leadership, preferably within a school or educational setting.
- Strong technical knowledge of network management, hardware and software troubleshooting, cybersecurity, and systems administration.
- Experience with student information systems, particularly PowerSchool SIS.
- Proficiency with data analysis tools, spreadsheets, reporting systems, and data visualization platforms.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and project management skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and compliance requirements.
- Knowledge of educational technology trends, data privacy regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Ability to work flexible hours and provide on-call support when necessary., * Master's degree in a related field.
- Experience supporting state testing administration and NJDOE reporting systems.
- Experience with Google Workspace administration, Clever integrations, and educational assessment platforms.
- Familiarity with change management and organizational systems improvement practices.
