GovCIO is currently hiring for a SME Cloud Engineer with extensive experience in both Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS) to design and manage our multi-cloud architecture supporting the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG). This role provides high-level engineering, technical execution, and automation management to integrate complex enterprise systems, manage cloud infrastructure, and ensure mission-critical USCG cloud environments achieve and retain operational authorization. This position will be located in Alexandria, VA, and will be a hybrid position., As a SME Cloud Engineer, the ideal candidate will specialize in the integration and automation of enterprise management tools, with a strong focus on connecting Microsoft Sentinel, Swimlane, ACAS, and Tanium to create a cohesive and automated infrastructure posture across our hybrid environment. Core responsibilities include:
- Manage multi-cloud engineering projects from inception to completion, ensuring the successful planning and execution of enterprise architecture controls for USCG networks.
- Develop automated workflows and playbooks within Swimlane to streamline operational responses and accelerate system mitigation.
- Enhance system monitoring across platforms with advanced data configurations, operational rules, and log tuning within Microsoft Sentinel.
- Ensure real-time endpoint visibility, control, and continuous policy enforcement utilizing enterprise Tanium deployments.
- Provide deep, hands-on engineering support in the selection, tailoring, and automation of native cloud architecture controls across Azure and AWS environments.
- Direct the selection and application of automated configuration monitoring and technical baseline checklists.
- Actively monitor ACAS system scans and collaborate closely with technical infrastructure teams to engineer automated solutions for identified system discrepancies.
- Lead efforts in conducting cloud system risk assessments and Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&M) management across USCG platforms.
- Lead the drafting and maintenance of comprehensive architecture documentation, systems engineering patterns, and federal compliance frameworks (such as ATO documentation).
- Coordinate multi-cloud integration testing activities and finalize associated compliance and deployment documentation.
- Manage the completion and routing of technical change management paperwork for infrastructure-as-code and systems policy updates.
- Coordinate and execute tool onboarding processes for new cloud applications, workloads, and resources.
- Engage and coordinate with required USCG cloud infrastructure teams, operational commands, and systems departments.
- Respond accurately and promptly to operational readiness data calls and technical data requests.
Requirements
High School with 12+ years (or commensurate experience), * Certifications : Professional-level cloud engineering certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional, AWS Certified Security Specialty, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or Azure Security Engineer Associate), alongside baseline enterprise IT certifications (e.g., CASP+ CE, CISSP, or equivalent technical baselines).
- Proven technical experience architecting, integrating, and deploying Microsoft Sentinel and Swimlane platforms.
- Proven experience implementing and utilizing Tanium platforms for real-time enterprise endpoint visibility, compliance, and monitoring.
- Demonstrated advanced practical user experience with Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) for cloud-based vulnerability and configuration scanning.
- Deep, hands-on knowledge of system configurations across hybrid infrastructures using both AWS and Microsoft Azure native resource groups, policies, and logging features.
- Strong scripting skills using advanced languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Bash) to build cohesive workflows, automated playbooks, and continuous system monitoring tasks.
- Demonstrated experience leading the engineering and execution of complex cloud infrastructure tool integrations from inception to completion within federal environments.
Clearance Level: Must have an active Secret clearance
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Prior experience supporting the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG), Department of Defense (DoD), or Federal cloud modernization programs and architecture migrations.
- Advanced project management or infrastructure management certifications such as PMP.
- Deep knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or Ansible to automate continuous monitoring tasks and playbook responses., * A valid photo ID must be presented during each interview
