Job description

  • Prepare, stage, set up, and perform data center hardware startups and shutdowns (e.g., racks, hard drives, switches) following checklists, guides, protocols, and instructions.
  • Assist and provide guidance to technicians on challenging or complex tasks.
  • Perform diagnostics and troubleshooting, identify root causes, and replace faulty components with minimal customer and business disruption.
  • Conduct post-execution quality checks and verify grounding, staging, labeling, and cabling compliance with safety and deployment standards.
  • Perform decommissioning activities for hardware refreshes and simple changes (e.g., memory upgrades, OS rebuilds) following standard procedures.
  • Follow procedures to communicate, report, and escalate incidents to appropriate management.
  • Participate in daily safety briefings, required training, and compliance activities.
  • Contribute to team collaboration by sharing information, participating in meetings, and supporting coworkers.
  • Complete assigned tickets efficiently while meeting KPI and SLA expectations.
  • Maintain accountability for service quality, completeness, and user experience.
  • Develop understanding of the client's business and the impact of work performed.
  • Maintain exceptional server hardware knowledge and understanding of system failures.
  • Assist in failure analysis and server fleet health tracking.
  • Use IPMI tools for diagnostics.
  • Administer software tools such as diagnostics, testing utilities, and firmware updates.
  • Resolve real-time issues during deployments.
  • Work with Windows Server operating systems and WinPE environments.
  • Configure and support Linux PXE services.
  • Troubleshoot Layer 1, Layer 2, and Layer 3 network issues.
  • Support virtual machine setup and environment configuration.
  • Work independently in local and geographically dispersed team environments

Requirements

Client is currently seeking a Data Center Technician to support servers at customer data centers. The ideal candidate balances strong technical skills (hardware, IT, and cabling management) with excellent attention to detail, self-motivation, and a positive, results-driven attitude., * 2+ years of experience as a Data Center Technician.

  • Associate degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent experience preferred.
  • CompTIA A+ certification or equivalent experience.
  • CompTIA Server+ certification or equivalent experience.
  • Windows operating systems experience.
  • CCNA certification preferred.
  • MCP/MCSE certification preferred.
  • Scripting experience preferred (PowerShell, Python, Bash).
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds when necessary.
  • Ability to safely climb ladders when required.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) correctly.
  • Ability to stand and walk throughout the facility for extended periods.
  • Ability to use hands to handle tools and controls, make precise adjustments, bend/twist the body, and perform repetitive movements for extended periods.
