Job description

The SharePoint Systems Administrator (Systems Administrator V) provides operational team lead activities in support of Microsoft SharePoint. Key responsibilities include the daily oversight of SharePoint support team activities, site owner training, creation and management of sites and site collections, user permissions, troubleshooting, and responding to customer incidents. The role performs content migrations and workflow automation support. The position manages and assists user access, security groups, site permissions, and data loss prevention policies. The SharePoint Systems Administrator will configure and support libraries and content types. Provides TIER II/III support, troubleshooting system errors, and training users. Work is performed in a team environment. Responsible for the review and implementation of new initiatives and features that may require participation as the subject matter expert with cross-functional IT groups. This position reports to the Director of Operations in IT Administrative Applications. Work is performed with minimal supervision and extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment in carrying out the job functions and the mission of Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) to support and improve existing systems. On-call work may be required to respond to emergency situations.

Must be willing to work from an HHS office designated by the hiring manager 3, or more, days per week located in Austin, TX.

Essential Job Functions:

Attends work on a regular and predictable schedule in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned.

Performs daily operational support of SharePoint, including user access, permissions management, site creation, content migrations, development of new site features, user training and consultation, and escalates issues as appropriate. Serves as lead for the SharePoint Support team and performs oversight of activities of other team members. (40%)

Creates a customer-service environment by establishing and maintaining positive working relationships with all levels of employees and internal/external stakeholders. Exhibits a can-do attitude. a) Communicates effectively with team members and management. b) Oversees problem resolution in a timely manner appropriate to the problem. c) Participates in knowledge transfer of technical information such as application development, operating systems/platforms, system integration, or business area knowledge. d) Ensures help desk tickets are handled in accordance with agency guidelines. e) Open and close tickets associated with production-related vendors in a timely fashion that supports project execution. (35%)

Serves as subject matter expert in the support of tasks related to the evaluation and deployment of new SharePoint sites, Microsoft 365 features, upgrades, third-party solutions, and more. Uses standards as adopted by the SharePoint team, HHSC IT, including continuous positive improvement methods. Participates in Agile and Scrum activities. Provides emergency support as-needed, to include after-hour support, if required. (20%)

Requirements

Do you have experience in SharePoint?, Do you have a Bachelor's degree?, Skills in SharePoint Online/M365. Skills in managing permissions, user access, and security groups. Skills in migrating data from traditional file shares and from within SharePoint sites. Knowledge of Power Platform canvas apps and Power Automate flows. Knowledge of security standards, Data Loss Prevention (DLP). Knowledge of PowerShell scripting for the automation of tasks, reporting, and maintenance. Ability to diagnose and solve user issues, performance bottlenecks, and system errors. Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users and document processes. Ability to stay current with rapidly evolving Microsoft 365 features. Ability to provide consultation and training to end-users and power users., Graduation from a four-year college or university with major coursework in computer science, computer information systems, management information systems, or a related field. Experience may be substituted for one another on a year-for-year basis.

Minimum of six (6) years of IT experience, specifically in SharePoint Administration.

Preferred but not required:

Microsoft 365 Certified: Teamwork Administrator Associate Prior experience supporting SharePoint for HHSC / State of Texas
