Job description
This engineer will be responsible for developing and maintaining high-performance, system-level software using C++ in a Linux environment. The role includes designing scalable and efficient code, debugging complex issues, and optimizing performance in resource-constrained or hardware-adjacent systems. A key part of the role is mentoring junior engineers through code reviews, design guidance, and best practices, helping elevate the overall technical capability of the team. The engineer will also work with emerging technologies such as Rust, contributing to modernization efforts where applicable. This position requires a strong balance of hands-on development and technical leadership.
Requirements
Must Have:
- Advanced experience with C++ (modern standards preferred - C++11/14/17+)
- Strong development experience in Linux environments
- Experience writing low-level / system-level code (multi-threading, memory management, performance optimization)
- Ability to mentor and guide junior developers (code reviews, best practices, architecture input)
- Exposure to or working knowledge of Rust
- Experience working in a full SDLC environment (design, development, testing, debugging)
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Plusses:
- Experience with embedded systems or hardware-adjacent development
- Familiarity with real-time systems or high-performance applications
- Experience working in defense, automotive, or aerospace environments
- Exposure to concurrency, parallel programming, or distributed systems
- Familiarity with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and modern dev tooling
Benefits & conditions
$35/hr to $40/hr
