Job description
Tyler Technologies' Salem, Oregon location is seeking a full-time Front-End Designer/Developer to design and develop modern, accessible websites for our state and local government partners. This hybrid role combines user experience design, accessibility, and front-end development within CMS platforms.
You will work closely with customers to gather requirements, design user-friendly experiences, and implement those designs into functional websites. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys both designing intuitive interfaces and bringing them to life through front-end development. You will be part of a small, collaborative team responsible for enhancing existing websites and building new digital experiences that improve how users access government services.
Responsibilities
- Work directly with customers to gather requirements, present design solutions, and implement website updates
- Design user-centered, accessible, and visually engaging website experiences
- Create wireframes, mockups, and prototypes for new websites and features
- Develop and implement front-end solutions within CMS platforms (templates, themes, components)
- Support and maintain existing customer websites, including implementing content updates, design changes, and feature enhancements
- Ensure all designs and implementations meet WCAG and Section 508 accessibility standards
- Evaluate and improve existing websites for usability, accessibility, and performance
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including developers, product managers, and content partners
- Provide timely, thoughtful, and supportive communication to customers
- Stay current with web design, accessibility, and front-end development best practices
Requirements
- Strong experience with HTML and CSS; working knowledge of JavaScript
- Experience designing and building websites within a CMS environment
- Strong understanding of UX principles and user-centered design
- Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG, Section 508)
- Proficiency with design tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, or similar
- Ability to translate customer needs into both design and functional solutions
- Strong communication skills and ability to explain technical and design concepts clearly
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills
- Self-motivated, creative, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, * Experience working with government or public-sector websites
- Experience modernizing legacy CMS websites
- Familiarity with responsive design and cross-browser compatibility
- Experience working with ticketing systems or customer request workflows (e.g., Zendesk)
- Basic understanding of SEO, analytics, or performance optimization
