Job description

POSITION SUMMARY: The Field IT Technician is responsible for providing first-tier technical support and performing routine maintenance on mobile frac fleet network systems. The role focuses on troubleshooting, provisioning hardware, supporting network-connected devices, and documenting solutions within a Windows-based IT environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (The following duties and responsibilities are all essential job functions, as defined by the ADA, except for those that begin with the word "may.")

Device Provisioning & Configuration

  • Set up and configure IT hardware (e.g., computers, monitors, switches) for deployment on mobile frac fleet equipment.
  • Ensure all devices are properly integrated into the field's network infrastructure.

Network Support & Maintenance

  • Monitor and maintain network devices, ensuring optimal performance and minimal downtime.
  • Troubleshoot network issues related to PCs, servers, printers, cameras, and other connected devices.

Technical Support & Issue Resolution

  • Respond to and resolve first-tier technical support requests, escalating complex issues as necessary.
  • Document resolutions and create user-facing guides and FAQs to facilitate self-service.

Asset Management

  • Track and maintain an inventory of company computing assets tied to operating fleet equipment.
  • Ensure accurate records of hardware deployments, configurations, and maintenance schedules.

System Monitoring & Reporting

  • Utilize monitoring tools to oversee system performance and identify potential issues proactively.
  • Generate reports on system health, ticket resolutions, and maintenance activities.

Compliance & Documentation

  • Ensure all IT operations comply with company policies and industry regulations.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of IT procedures, configurations, and support activities.

Continuous Improvement

  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies relevant to field IT operations.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to enhance system efficiency and reliability.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to assist with successful operations and business continuity.

Requirements

Do you have a valid Driver's License license?, Do you have experience in IT department experience?, Do you have a High school diploma or GED?, * Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship.

  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
  • Successfully passes all applicable general pre-employment testing including but not limited to: background check, pre-employment drug screening, pre-employment fit tests, pre-employment aptitude and/or competency assessment(s).
  • Daily overtime required and in person, predictable attendance in The Woodlands, TX.
  • Valid U.S. Driver's License required. Most employment is contingent upon meeting company driving standards, including 3 year U.S. driving history and an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) in accordance with Company policy.
  • Ability to travel to remote fleet sites as needed.
  • Industry certifications are a plus (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator)., * High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in IT hardware/software installation and basic networking.
  • Proficiency with Windows OS administration and patching tools.
  • Prior experience in a field or fleet-based IT environment is a plus., * Problem-solving orientation - ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve technical issues independently.
  • Customer service mindset - provides effective and respectful support to non-technical users.
  • Attention to detail - ensures accuracy in asset tracking, documentation, and configuration settings.
  • Time management - capable of handling multiple tickets and field requests with prioritization.
  • Adaptability - thrives in a fast-paced, fleet-operational environment with frequent equipment movement.
  • Initiative - proactively identifies opportunities for IT process improvement and optimization.
  • Collaboration - works effectively with field technicians, fleet operators, and IT leadership.
  • Proficiency in Windows OS environments and system administration tools.
  • Solid understanding of LAN/WAN, DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP, and basic routing concepts.
  • Experience with deploying and maintaining IT hardware such as PCs, printers, switches, and access points.
  • Familiarity with ticketing systems (e.g., ServiceNow, Jira, Zendesk) and remote support tools.
  • Knowledge of patch management tools and endpoint security solutions.
  • Competency with Microsoft Office 365 Suite, Teams, and mobile device setup.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, system logs, and network diagrams.

Frequently required to walk, sit, climb, bend, reach, and squat/kneel. The Field IT Technician works primarily indoors and will be sitting for prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities. The Field IT Technician may be required to lift heavy objects; therefore, the Field IT Technician must be able to lift 25lbs.

Work hours may include early morning, late afternoon/evening hours, and weekends in combination, depending on job demands.
