Job description
- Set up, configure, document, and maintain Linux and Windows systems, network devices, and virtualization platforms in the lab.
- Perform network cabling, rack setup, and physical infrastructure planning.
- Configure and manage networking components, including VLANs, routing, switching, and firewall rules.
- Deploy and manage virtualization technologies such as VMware, OpenStack, KVM, and XCP-ng.
- Maintain and optimize storage systems used in lab environments.
- Perform regular audits of configuration and inventory data to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Create and maintain scripts and tools to automate lab configuration, provisioning, and usability.
- Troubleshoot and resolve lab and network outages, hardware failures, and system performance issues.
- Address Helpdesk tickets from lab users in a timely and professional manner.
- Collaborate with IT and Facilities teams to resolve connectivity, power, and cooling issues.
- Participate in the design, monitoring, and improvement of lab services and infrastructure.
- Ensure proper documentation of lab systems, configurations, and operational procedures.
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related field (or equivalent work experience)
- 5-7+ years of experience in enterprise network environments & Physical Lab Understanding
- 3-5+ years of experience with virtualization platforms
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills
- Ability to quickly learn and adopt new technologies
Preferred Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience with python or other scripting.
