Job description
The Principal Cloud Engineer serves as the highest-level technical authority for Azure architecture within Stanley Martin Homes. This role defines landing zone architecture, governance frameworks, identity integration, and infrastructure automation standards.
Responsibilities and Duties
Cloud Architecture & Governance

Design and implement Azure landing zones

Establish identity, networking, and security integrations

Define governance and cost control frameworks
Automation & Modernization

Implement infrastructure-as-code standards
-
Lead migration initiatives from hybrid to cloud

Optimize cloud performance and cost
Technical Leadership

Mentor engineers
-
Define cloud engineering standards

Serve as an escalation point for complex cloud challenges

Represent the company professionally in all internal and external interactions and communications

Complete all other duties as assigned by manager

Requirements

8-12+ years of infrastructure experience

Deep Azure architecture expertise

Strong experience with IaC (Terraform, Bicep, ARM, etc.)

Enterprise-scale cloud governance experience

Strong networking and identity integration knowledge
