Job description
As a Senior Platform Engineer, you will contribute across design, coding, testing, operability, and quality assurance in a development team. You will assess and solve issues in new or existing code and work with high attention to detail, reliability, and efficiency. You will collaborate closely with your team members to ensure success.
In your day-to-day, your tasks will be:
Work on design, coding, and quality assurance tasks related to specific product features.
- Build reliable, production-ready platform capabilities and help drive engineering quality across the team.
- Engage in development activities using Java, Python, and Go, with Rust as an additional advantage.
- Collaborate within an agile team utilizing the Scrum framework to self-organize and achieve development goals.
- Mentor and guide junior developers to support their professional development and growth.
- Support Product Owners and Architects in technical discussions.
- Assist in building Proofs of Concept (PoCs) and researching potential technical solutions., You will work across modern cloud-native platform engineering topics including Kubernetes, observability, security, and large-scale distributed services.
You will deepen your understanding of secure enterprise connectivity and SAP data access scenarios across hybrid landscapes.
You will have the opportunity to shape platform capabilities that evolve from current connectivity scenarios into broader API-driven data access capabilities across future project phases.
MEET YOUR TEAM
You will work with your team on SAP Data Accelerator within SAP HANA Cloud & Datalakehouse / Big Data Fabric Services. These products help our customers access data from anywhere.
The Big Data Fabric Services team is responsible for:
Extend and complete the SAP Data Platform with big data technologies to support different SAP Lines of Business.
- Leverage Apache Spark and object store technology to provide scalable and cost-effective computing and storage services for big data ingestion, processing, and sharing.
- Integrate into SAP BTP and HANA Cloud & Data Lakehouse to offer a unified development and deployment experience for different SAP Lines of Business.
- Assure multi-tenancy and secure data processing.
- Build capabilities for secure partner connectivity and governed access to SAP business data.

Requirements
Do you have experience in Web services design?, Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Systems Analysis, Information Technology, Mathematics, Physics, or Engineering.
- Advanced or fluent English proficiency.
- Excellent programming skills with knowledge of algorithms, data structures, and run-time complexity (Big-O notation).
- Strong hands-on development experience in Java, Python, and/or Go.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex software issues using technical and product knowledge.
- Familiarity with design patterns, Clean Code principles, continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD), code review, and test-driven development (TDD) is preferred.
Platform, security, and operability
Experience with cloud-native development and Kubernetes-based environments
- Good understanding of networking concepts relevant to distributed systems, secure connectivity, and cloud environments
- Experience with secure connectivity and platform engineering patterns, including OAuth 2.0, mTLS, proxy or tunnel-based architectures, and multi-tenant service design
- Experience with observability practices including metrics, tracing, health checks, alerting, and OpenTelemetry
- Experience with scalability, autoscaling, capacity management, and performance tuning for distributed services
- Experience with secure software engineering, threat modeling, production hardening, and automated testing across unit, integration, and end-to-end scenarios
- Knowledge of AI-assisted and agentic engineering tools, and the ability to use them effectively across the software development lifecycle
SAP and platform capability design
Experience integrating with SAP backend systems such as SAP ERP (ECC or S/4HANA) and NetWeaver-based landscapes.
- Experience with REST API design and service workflows including enrollment, connection or session lifecycle, endpoint management, or related platform capabilities.
- Willingness to take ownership, drive new developments, and work creatively on challenging and innovative tasks following the highest technical standards.
- Demonstrates a high level of commitment, team spirit, flexibility, and initiative.
- Ability to quickly acquire new knowledge and skills., Rust development experience
- ABAP development experience
- Experience building SAP add-ons or backend extensions
- Current hands-on experience using AI-assisted or agentic tools across the software development lifecycle
