Software Developer (all genders) - Hamburg / Hybrid - Talent Transfair CAU Kiel

We are looking for a Software Developer (all genders) to join our development teams in Hamburg in a hybrid working setup. You will become part of a highly experienced group of software developers working in small, agile Scrum teams. Depending on your experience level, you will contribute to software implementation, technical design, and architecture discussions while helping us continuously improve our engineering standards and development processes. This role offers the opportunity to work on modern financial software systems with real production impact, using contemporary technologies and development methodologies.

Your Responsibilities

• Contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of high-quality software solutions
• Work hands-on on client/server systems, including real-time and distributed components
• Design and implement automated tests to ensure reliability, correctness, and maintainability
• Collaborate closely with developers, product teams, and stakeholders in Scrum-based teams
• Apply modern development practices such as Pair Programming, Test-Driven Development (TDD), and Code Reviews
• Use modern AI-assisted development tools responsibly to improve efficiency, collaboration, and code quality
• Participate in technical discussions, sprint planning, and continuous improvement initiatives

Depending on your seniority level:

• Junior Developers: learn the codebase, tools, and engineering best practices while contributing productively to the team
• Mid-Level Developers: take ownership of features and actively support technical decision-making
• Senior Developers: drive architectural discussions, mentor colleagues, and help improve engineering standards and processes

Our Technology Stack

• Backend development using functional programming concepts (Scala, Java, Rust)
• Desktop client development with Java and JavaFX
• Web development with Angular and TypeScript
• Interface programming, including streaming interfaces and FIX APIs
• Modern build, testing, and CI/CD tools (Git, GitLab CI, Maven, NPM)
• AI-assisted development workflows and tooling (e.g. Claude)

• A degree in Computer Science, Business Informatics, or a comparable technical education
• Solid programming skills and professional experience in software development
• Interest in clean code, software quality, and modern engineering practices
• Enjoyment of collaborative work in agile environments, especially Scrum and Pair Programming
• A proactive, self-motivated, and solution-oriented mindset
• Experience with TDD, Git, or financial/trading environments is a plus, but not mandatory
• Strong English communication skills are required; German skills or willingness to learn German are appreciated
