Job description

Spear & Jackson Group are looking for a SAP Functional Specialist to join the IT team at our Atlas site in Sheffield. Reporting to the Head of IT, you will take ownership of the Group's SAP environment (we currently run SAP ECC6), ensuring it operates reliably, supports critical business processes, and evolves to meet the Group's needs.

Working within a small IT team, you will be responsible for functional support and optimisation across SAP modules including Finance, Materials Management, Production Planning, and Sales & Distribution. You will act as the escalation point for complex issues, maintain system performance and availability, and collaborate with both internal teams and external partners.

The role combines day-to-day operational support with process improvement. You will gather requirements, translate them into functional specifications, coordinate testing and deployment, and maintain structured documentation to ensure knowledge continuity. You will also oversee integrations such as EDI, reporting extracts, and third-party interfaces, ensuring data accuracy and consistency across the Group.

A key part of the role is stakeholder engagement. You will build strong relationships across the business, providing guidance, training, and support while promoting standardised processes and best practice. You will contribute to the ERP roadmap and support transformation initiatives, balancing immediate operational needs with future system development.

Requirements

Do you have experience in SAP?, Are you an experienced SAP professional who enjoys combining hands-on system support with continuous improvement and strategic development?, To succeed, you will have experience supporting ERP systems in manufacturing, supply chain, or distribution environments. Ideally, you will have strong functional knowledge of SAP production and finance modules, and will also support finance, procurement, and sales processes. ABAP knowledge is a bonus but not required.

You will be analytical, proactive, and solution-focused, able to work independently while collaborating across the business. Occasional ad-hoc travel may be required.
