Job description

Duties Include:

  • Disconnect services for non-payment or other reasons as directed
  • Monitoring water restrictions
  • Monitoring the distribution system for water leak detection
  • Assist in repairs of service lines and water/sewer mains in the system

Duties Include Continued:

  • Operate and maintain ultra filtration water treatment facility.
  • Maintaining and repairing fire hydrants, water mains and service lines
  • Programming and meter reading
  • Water sampling and testing requirements as mandated by state and federal agencies
  • Maintaining water tower, pump station operations, PRV and altitude pits
  • Maintaining sewer lift stations
  • Maintaining sewer service line and main infrastructure
  • Assisting with inspections of water and sewer installations
  • GIS mapping of system
  • General maintenance practices
  • Street repair as it pertains to water main/service line leaks
  • Assisting with and completing daily work orders

Requirements

Do you have a valid Driver's License license?, Do you have experience in Computer skills?, Do you have a High school diploma or GED?, · Minimum requirements possess a high school diploma or equivalent.

· Possess basic computer skills and be proficient in math.

· Possess a valid South Dakota Driver's license.

· Pass a background check

· Possess a CLASS 1 Certification in Water Treatment/Distribution and Waste Water

Collection or the ability to obtain treatment certification within one year.

· Have the availability to be on an every 4 week rotating on-call schedule

Skills and Abilities:

  • Usage of power tools or small machinery
  • Apply basic plumbing principles
  • Basic construction skills as they apply to water and sewer maintenance
  • Ability to follow orders
  • Operate and maintain light equipment
  • Good physical strength
  • Deal with others in a professional manner
  • Knowledge and implementation of the Sanitary District policies and procedures
  • Work as a team member with other employees
  • Meet specified or required deadlines
  • Communicate effectively with other district employees, both oral and written
  • Handle multiple tasks
  • Principles of public works operations

  • Ability to understand service area maps
  • Basic measurement principles
