Location: Hybrid position based in the Washington, D.C. area. Candidates should reside in Washington, D.C., Maryland, or Virginia and be prepared to work in person 2 to 3 days a week.
The Technical Systems Specialist supports technical, operational, and data-management activities for U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) initiatives. This role is execution-oriented and requires an individual who can organize, analyze, and manage complex information across multiple systems and stakeholders. The Specialist will help transform large, evolving datasets into actionable insights, operational tools, and reliable program records.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Managing and improving data workflows across platforms including Salesforce, SharePoint, and Microsoft Excel.
- Supporting Salesforce administration, reporting, data governance, workflow automation, and platform coordination.
- Organizing, reviewing, integrating, and maintaining large volumes of program records, technical documentation, partner information, and operational data.
- Developing reports, dashboards, tracking tools, and analytical products to support decision-making and program operations.
- Identifying data quality issues, system gaps, and opportunities for process improvement.
- Supporting stakeholder coordination, reporting, records management, and program implementation activities.
- Creating lightweight audit tooling to monitor and capture programmatic metadata to drive continuous process improvement.
The Technical Systems Specialist will engage regularly with a diverse range of stakeholders supporting DOE initiatives, including consulting staff supporting DOE and federal staff within the Office of Innovation, Affordability, and Consumer Choice (IACC).
Requirements
Do you have experience in Stakeholder management?, Do you have a Bachelor's degree?, Candidates must demonstrate at least 3 years of experience supporting data management, technical program support, systems coordination, or related operational initiatives. They should have the ability to adapt and operate effectively within fast-paced and evolving program environments. Candidates must also possess:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- Experience organizing, managing, and analyzing large and complex datasets.
- Experience developing reports, summaries, dashboards, and analytical outputs from multiple data sources.
- Familiarity with database structures, records management, and data-governance practices.
- Experience working with platforms such as Salesforce, SharePoint, Microsoft Excel, or related systems.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple concurrent activities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong professional collaboration and stakeholder coordination capabilities.
The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, systems-focused, and comfortable working in dynamic environments where priorities, processes, and data structures evolve over time.
Preferred Experience: Preferred candidates may possess:
- Experience supporting federal market engagement, partnership, or sustainability programs, including initiatives such as ENERGY STAR, Better Buildings & Better Plants, or related federal efforts.
- Salesforce Administration or related CRM/platform management experience.
- Experience developing reporting tools, operational tracking systems, dashboards, or data-management workflows.
- Experience operating effectively within consulting, client-service, or fast-paced professional environments.
