Job description

  • Works with software engineering team to develop web applications to support sensory science research
  • Contributes to the design, development, testing, and maintenance of internal software applications and engineering tools used by our scientists
  • Develops software features and components primarily using C#/.NET
  • Participates in code reviews, testing, troubleshooting, and debugging activities with guidance from senior engineers
  • Collaborates with cross-functional team members to understand technical requirements, translate them into software solutions, and document work clearly

Requirements

We have an exciting part-time (6 months) opportunity in Software Engineering to join our Informatics team within Science & Research in San Diego, CA. Ideal for current students or recent grads!

This individual will support research project activities onsite in Taste Research. Kick start your career in getting hands-on experience in software engineering for research!, * Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science/Software Engineering, with interest in supporting Life Sciences research and development

  • Experience building at least one web application using C#/.NET
  • Basic understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle and fundamental software engineering principles
  • Familiarity with Relational Databases and SQL
  • Candidates must be available to work an average of 20 hours weekly within work hours 8am-5pm, Monday-Friday; scheduling can be flexible
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of people
  • Ideal candidate will be eager, energetic, reliable and self-motivated and ability to work independently

The hourly rate for this position is $23.00 - $26.00 per hour. Compensation will be dependent on factors that include location, education, training, specific skills, and years of experience.
