Job description
The TMaH Data Analyst position (K0247413) gathers, analyzes, and interprets more complex data using appropriate statistical techniques and computer software to obtain and present findings. Perform economic modeling using various statistical techniques. Design queries and collect data from the Medicaid database system to track multiple funded services to report on usage trends, costs, efficiencies, and effectiveness of health programs. Creates and maintains queries for utilization across managed care encounter data and specific populations when requested. Maps and traces data across multiple systems to identify and resolve problems. Creates and maintains documentation for each report. Data is gathered from the agency's system, other states, or other national sources. Peer review others' analyst work while providing feedback and best practices. Design, build, and maintain dashboards and reports using Tableau, Power BI, or similar tools to support Medicaid program evaluation, performance tracking, and financial forecasting.
Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
- Performs ad hoc analysis and interprets results for a wide audience, including TMaH staff, DHCF staff, and stakeholders.
- Provides data for legislative requests or policy analysis.
- Responds to written and verbal inquiries concerning Medicaid data.
- Displays a readiness to expand workload to meet leadership expectations.
- Support external data reporting needs, including CMS reporting, legislative inquiries, and responses to public records requests.
Requirements
Do you have a valid Driver's License license?, Do you have experience in Statistics research?, Do you have a High school diploma or GED?, + High School, GED
- Licensing & Certification:
- Valid Driver's License - Incumbent is required to have and maintain a valid driver's license when operating a state vehicle, a private vehicle, or a rental vehicle for the benefit of the State., + Education may be substituted for experience, as deemed relevant by the agency., + Finance, Statistics, Economics, Business Administration or similar degree.
- Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access
- Proofreading, editing, attention to detail
- Background in health care or related services
- Strong analytical and critical thinking with the ability to effectively collaborate with others
- Ability to exercise good judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions
- Experience in health care or insurance
- Two years of experience performing analysis of procedures, policies or programs
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to prepare comprehensive reports and data in clean, concise ways and communicate information
- Strong proficiency in Tableau, Power BI, or similar tools to create dashboards and reports
