Job description

Investigative Execution & Rigor

  • Support end-to-end investigative execution, including evidence development, technical analysis, and documentation of findings aligned to established investigative standards
  • Ensure investigative work products are complete, defensible, and consistent with program expectations for rigor, evidentiary integrity, and due process
  • Contribute to translating technical investigative activity into clear, structured findings and insights for stakeholders

Technical Investigation & Signal Development

  • Partner with technical subject matter experts to identify, access, and interpret relevant data sources for investigative use
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of detection logic, investigative triggers, and signal quality to improve investigative outcomes
  • Apply technical expertise to support root cause analysis and evidence-based conclusions across complex investigations

Program Maturity & Continuous Improvement

  • Support the development and maturation of investigative processes, workflows, and documentation standards to scale with program needs
  • Identify patterns, gaps, and opportunities for incremental improvements in investigative processes and tooling
  • Document methodologies, lessons learned, and emerging best practices to drive consistency and program evolution

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate closely with investigators, legal, HR, security, and compliance partners to support coordinated, cross-functional investigations
  • Ensure alignment with established processes and minimize duplication of investigative effort across teams
  • Contribute to a culture of investigative rigor, accountability, and professional excellence

Insights, Metrics & Communication

  • Assist in defining and tracking program metrics to evaluate investigative effectiveness and operational performance
  • Translate technical findings into clear, actionable insights for both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Support the preparation of structured outputs that inform decision-making and contribute to broader risk reduction efforts

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree AND 6+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development OR equivalent experience.

1+ year(s) project or people management experience.

3+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.

  • The successful candidate must have an active U.S. Government Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance. Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. Failure to maintain or obtain the appropriate clearance and/or customer screening requirements may result in employment action up to and including termination.
  • Clearance Verification : This position requires successful verification of the stated security clearance to meet federal government customer requirements. You will be asked to provide clearance verification information prior to an offer of employment.
  • Citizenship & Citizenship Verification: This position requires verification of U.S. citizenship due to citizenship-based legal restrictions. Specifically, this position supports United States federal, state, and/or local United States government agency customer and is subject to certain citizenship-based restrictions where required or permitted by applicable law. To meet this legal requirement, citizenship will be verified via a valid passport, or other approved documents, or verified US government Clearance.
  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Additional or preferred qualifications

Bachelor's Degree AND 12+ years experience engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development OR equivalent experience.

4+ years people management experience.

8+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.

1+ year(s) of experience reading and/or writing code (e.g., sample documentation, product demos).

  • Experience supporting insider risk, trust & safety, security, or enterprise risk investigations programs
  • Demonstrated ability to produce clear, defensible investigative documentation and findings
  • Experience working with technical data sources and translating findings into actionable insights
  • Familiarity with investigative standards, evidentiary principles, and structured investigative methodologies
  • Experience operating in environments involving legal, regulatory, or sensitive personnel considerations
  • Ability to work effectively in ambiguous, cross-functional environments spanning technical and non-technical stakeholders1+ year(s) of experience reading and/or writing code (e.g., sample documentation, product demos).
  • Senior experience leading complex investigations or investigative programs within government, intelligence, law enforcement, national security, or similarly regulated environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment under legal, regulatory, and public scrutiny.
  • Experience briefing senior executives or government leaders on sensitive matters.
  • Background in federal investigations, intelligence oversight, Inspector General functions, or national security risk management.
  • Experience operating within large technology organizations handling sensitive or classified information.
  • Familiarity with insider threat, trust & safety, personnel security, or enterprise risk programs at scale.

Technical Program Management M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $142,800 - $274,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $188,000 - $304,200 per year.
