Job description
The Central Office Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of telecommunication systems within central office environments. They ensure the smooth operation of communication networks by managing equipment and providing customer support. The position is responsible for the provisioning and maintenance of subscriber loop carrier systems, DSL, POTS, GPON, digital and optical muxes., * Installs, performs routine maintenance, analyzes defects, tests, adjusts, repairs, and maintains complex equipment such as switching systems, circuit equipment, network terminal equipment, and data/digital equipment by using electrical and or electronic measuring devices.
- Plans jobs and determines materials and resources needed to complete tasks, updates work and maintenance logs, keeps team and managers informed on the status of projects.
- Travels between central office locations
- Reviews and interprets work orders, wiring lists, wiring diagrams, and equipment drawings and follows standard practices in the performance of job duties.
- Utilizes knowledge of general input and analysis of ESS translations.
- Runs diagnostic test programs, analyzes defects and/or tests various types of telephone switching equipment (5ESS, Electronic Data Switching, etc.), uses various types of testing devices, e.g., volt-ohm meters, spectrum analyzers, digital communications, data analyzers, etc.
Requirements
- At least six months experience diagnosing circuit trouble, and performing testing with volt ohm meters, TMS, or comparable equipment.
- At least six months experience provisioning and maintaining POTS, DSO, DS1/T1, DS3/T3, DSL, and fiber circuits.
- Must be proficient in switch maintenance and routines, working knowledge of IOF, SONET/DWDM equipment and services.
- Requires a valid state drivers' license with satisfactory driving record.
- Ability to work varying shifts and hours including possible mandatory overtime, and/or callouts, weekends, and holidays., * At least 12 months experience diagnosing circuit trouble, and performing routine testing, including measuring AC/DC current using volt ohm meters, OTDR, or comparable test equipment.
- At least 12 months experience provisioning and maintaining POTS, DSO, DS1/T1, DS3/T3, DSL, and fiber circuits or services.
- Experience working with 5ESS switches.
- Experience including ROADM, Infinera, QMOE, IP Ethernet.
- Certification or training in the maintenance and operation of D4 channel banks, Calix DSL systems, Adtran (DLC), Fujitsu (FO Transport), and Alcatel DSL systems.
- Experience working independently with little supervision.

Minimum hourly rate: $14.93
Maximum hourly rate: $40.28
