Job description
We are seeking a Senior Manager BI Architect to lead the design and delivery of enterprise Business Intelligence solutions across Tableau and Power BI platforms. This role focuses on defining scalable BI architecture, data modeling standards, and governance practices. You will bridge data engineering and business teams to enable self-service analytics and high-quality reporting. The position requires strong leadership, technical depth, and the ability to drive organization-wide BI transformation.
In this role, you will:
- Define and own enterprise BI architecture, including semantic layer design, reporting standards, and governance for Tableau and Power BI.
- Lead end-to-end BI solution delivery from requirements gathering and data modeling to dashboard development, testing, and deployment.
- Design and optimize scalable data models such as star schemas, aggregated tables, and DirectQuery/Import configurations.
- Establish best practices for report performance tuning, row-level security, and version-controlled BI asset management.
- Collaborate with data engineering teams to design robust consumption-layer data structures for analytics.
- Drive adoption of embedded analytics and advanced visualization capabilities across business units.
- Conduct architecture reviews, mentor BI developers, and strengthen internal BI capabilities.
- Evaluate and roadmap new BI tools and AI-assisted features within Tableau and Power BI environments.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in BI/analytics, including 4+ years as an architect or technical lead.
- Expert-level proficiency in Tableau (Desktop, Server/Cloud, Prep) and Microsoft Power BI (Desktop, Service, Premium).
- Strong data modeling expertise including dimensional modeling, DAX, calculated fields, and semantic layer design.
- Experience with enterprise BI governance practices such as certification workflows, data cataloging, and access control.
- Familiarity with modern data platforms such as Azure Synapse, Snowflake, BigQuery, or equivalent.
- Knowledge of ETL/ELT pipelines and their integration with BI consumption layers, along with strong stakeholder management skills.
Benefits & conditions
The hourly salary for this position is between $[137,500-161,500] depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans.
