Job description

The Chief Technology and Product Officer will be responsible for leading all engineering, product, architecture, and platform functions. This is a highly hands-on executive role that blends strategic leadership with deep technical and product capability.

The mandate is to deliver the new platform, migrate the organization from its legacy systems, and create a modern, scalable foundation for future growth.

The Chief Technology and Product Officer will lead a high performing team, setting clear priorities, driving execution, and ensuring the organization has the processes, structure, and operating rhythm needed to deliver high-quality transformative technology and product outcomes.

This role requires someone who can balance strategic oversight with direct involvement in solving complex technical and product challenges.

This position may have access to sensitive information such as PII and/or PHI. As such, all Academic HealthPlans employees sign and adhere to AHP's Information Security Handbook covering information security policies and procedures.

Must be in Dallas-Fort Worth or be willing to relocate to Dallas-Fort Worth and understand there is a prerequisite to be in the office to adequately perform the duties of this role.

Your Impact

  • Platform Development & Delivery
  • Lead the end-to-end development and delivery of the new platform, including architecture, engineering, product management, testing, and release.
  • Drive resolution of complex technical challenges, operational issues, and product gaps.
  • Build and refine development processes, operating cadence, and team structures to improve velocity and quality.
  • Legacy Migration & Data Transition
  • Own and drive the migration from legacy systems to the new product environment.
  • Ensure the technology organization is equipped to scale and support the long-term ambitions of the business.
  • Product & Engineering Leadership
  • Provide hands-on technical and product leadership, setting standards for engineering excellence and product discipline.
  • Establish a clear and actionable product roadmap, ensuring alignment across technology, commercial teams, and senior leadership.
  • Create a culture of accountability, transparency, and strong delivery across engineering and product teams.
  • Executive Collaboration & Stakeholder Alignment
  • Partner with executive leadership, educating & informing on technical innovation, supporting the overarching growth agenda.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Stakeholder management?, Do you have a Bachelor's degree?, * Senior leadership experience spanning engineering and product ownership.

  • Track record of delivering large-scale platform builds and modernizing legacy systems.
  • Experience leading technology and product organizations in mid-sized businesses, ideally between $50 and $100 million in revenue.
  • Strong SaaS product background, preferably in regulated or complex environments.
  • Proven ability to create structure, processes, and clear priorities within fast-moving or ambiguous environments.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams across engineering, product, QA, and architecture.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work closely with senior leaders and external partners.
  • Bachelor's degree in business or related discipline required; MBA preferred.
