Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled and hands-on Network Engineer II/III to support complex provisioning, IP migration, and operational activities within a high-availability production network environment. This role is ideal for an engineer with strong experience supporting carrier-grade or enterprise network infrastructure in ISP, telecommunications, or managed network environments.

The successful candidate will be responsible for executing network changes on live infrastructure, performing advanced troubleshooting, and supporting critical migration and provisioning initiatives with minimal service impact. This position requires strong technical expertise, operational discipline, and the ability to work effectively in fast-paced production environments., * Execute complex provisioning and migration activities on live production network equipment using approved Methods of Procedure (MOPs)

  • Perform IP migration activities including routing updates, circuit transitions, service cutovers, and customer/network migrations
  • Support advanced provisioning tasks including:
  • Circuit grooming
  • Card replacements and hardware swaps
  • Software and firmware upgrades
  • VLAN and interface provisioning
  • Routing and switching configurations
  • Implement and support network changes that may involve maintenance windows or temporary service interruptions
  • Troubleshoot and resolve network outages, latency, routing, and connectivity issues in a timely manner
  • Configure, maintain, and optimize carrier-grade and enterprise network infrastructure
  • Collaborate with internal engineering, operations, and support teams to ensure successful deployment and migration activities
  • Maintain accurate technical documentation, change records, and implementation notes
  • Follow established operational procedures, escalation paths, and change management policies with a high degree of accuracy and accountability
  • Participate in network maintenance activities and support high-availability operational requirements

Requirements

Do you have experience in Telecommunications network troubleshooting?, Candidates should have hands-on experience working with the following network platforms and technologies:

  • Juniper MX960
  • Cisco ASR 9000 Series
  • Cisco ME3400
  • Carrier-grade routing and switching environments
  • IP provisioning and migration activities
  • Production network operations and support

Required Qualifications

  • Previous experience working within:
  • Internet Service Providers (ISP)
  • Telecommunications carriers
  • Managed network service providers
  • Large-scale enterprise network environments
  • Minimum certification requirement:
  • CCNA, JNCIA, or equivalent experience
  • Strong working knowledge of:
  • TCP/IP networking
  • Routing and switching protocols
  • Layer 2 and Layer 3 provisioning
  • Network troubleshooting methodologies
  • Experience performing changes in live production environments
  • Ability to independently execute technical tasks with minimal supervision
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail, * Experience with large-scale IP migration projects
  • Familiarity with BGP, OSPF, MPLS, and carrier Ethernet technologies
  • Experience supporting high-availability and mission-critical networks
  • Knowledge of change management and outage mitigation best practices
  • Experience working within 24x7 operational support environments
  • Understanding of network monitoring and operational tools
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Work Environment

This position requires direct interaction with live production network infrastructure where operational accuracy, responsiveness, and technical precision are critical to maintaining network uptime and customer service continuity. Candidates must be comfortable performing maintenance activities during scheduled maintenance windows and supporting critical operational initiatives in high-pressure environments.

Location

Preferred location: Charlotte, NC

This position is ideally based in Charlotte, North Carolina; however, remote candidates will also be considered based on experience, qualifications, and the ability to support operational requirements.
