Job description
The Manager, Advancement and Governance supports Salzburg Global's individual giving, donor engagement, and governance activities. The role manages key advancement processes, including donor communications, gift acknowledgement, prospect research, pipeline coordination, and donor follow-up. The role supports all phases additional ad hoc fundraising campaigns.
The role also supports effective governance by coordinating Board and Committee meeting preparation, Board communications, materials, notes, and onboarding support for new Board directors.
This is a manager-level coordination and implementation role requiring strong organization, discretion, sound judgement, and reliable follow-through across donor and governance processes. Participation in evening and weekend events as well as international travel is required., Personal Leadership
- Manages a varied workload across advancement and governance responsibilities, balancing deadlines, stakeholder needs, communication schedules, and confidential information.
- Anticipates upcoming priorities, prepares materials and follow-up in good time, and escalates issues where judgement or senior input is needed.
- Demonstrates sound judgement, discretion, attention to detail, and professionalism when working with donor, Board, and governance-related information.
- Uses feedback, experience, and learning from each cycle of activity to improve processes, communications, and follow-up.
Collaboration
- Communicates clearly and professionally with donors, prospects, Fellows, Board members, colleagues, and senior stakeholders.
- Works closely with colleagues across Advancement, Programs, Communications, Finance, and Senior Management to support effective donor engagement and governance processes.
- Builds positive working relationships by ensuring information is accurate, timely, and shared appropriately.
- Supports a respectful and well-organized experience for donors, prospects, Board members, and new Board directors.
Deliverables
- Manages implementation of annual Advancement outreach, including writing direct mail appeals and overseeing the communication schedule.
- Identifies donors within the Advancement pipeline, adds new prospects with potential giving capacity, and works with colleagues across the organization to support effective donor engagement and solicitation.
- Ensures the Advancement pipeline is updated regularly and that donor meeting, call, and visit notes are accurately recorded in Raiser's Edge.
- Researches prospective donors by preparing bios, analyzing giving history and program-related interests, and preparing materials for meetings and calls with major donors and prospects.
- Plans donor and prospect meetings, calls, and follow-up, ensuring clear preparation and timely next steps.
- Supports the strategic direction and implementation of Fellow engagement, fund-raising, and friend-raising events.
- Supports the planning and execution of quarterly Board meetings and Committee meetings, including board communications, drafting and preparing materials, and taking notes.
- Assists with the recruitment and onboarding of new board directors.
- Updates board governance materials as needed.
Requirements
Do you have experience in Writing skills?, Do you have a Bachelor's degree?, * Bachelor's degree and at least four years of relevant professional experience in advancement, development, donor relations, governance, communications, or a related area.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Excellent written and spoken English, with strong writing skills for donor and governance materials.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to handle donor, Board, and governance information with discretion.
- Experience with donor databases, CRM systems, and prospect research; Raiser's Edge experience desirable.
- Strong interpersonal skills and confidence communicating with donors, prospects, Board members, colleagues, and senior stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and collaborative digital tools.
