Job description
To strengthen our team, we are seeking a BEOL/MOL Reliability Engineer. In this role, you will focus on interconnect reliability within an interdisciplinary team, collaborating with a global network of design, process, and integration stakeholders.
- Develop and execute BEOL/MOL reliability technology qualifications (e.g., EM, IMD-TDDB, SM, TC at highly integrated metallization, reliability of passive device).
- Analyze reliability test data and drive failure root cause investigations.
- Define reliability requirements and ensure compliance with customer, internal and global standards.
- Collaborate with process and integration teams to optimize metallization schemes and materials.
- Support technology development by assessing reliability risks for new processes and design changes.
- Drive MRB/PCRB (Material/Product Review Board) decisions through comprehensive reliability assessments integrating inline metrology, electrical testing and reliability data.
- Own reliability-related design rules and models within PDK releases.
- Continuously enhance reliability methodologies, models, and simulation approaches, leveraging AI-assisted techniques.
- Prepare technical reports and present results to internal stakeholders and customers.
- Support R&D projects and contribute to international conferences and workshops.
Requirements
- Master's, Diploma or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or a related field.
- Solid understanding of semiconductor device physics and BEOL integration schemes.
- Experience with reliability mechanisms such as Electromigration (EM), Time-Dependent Dielectric Breakdown (TDDB), Stress Migration (SM) and Temperature Cycling (TC).
- Strong expertise in statistical data analysis and proficiency with relevant tools (e.g., MATLAB, JMP, Minitab, or similar).
- Solid programming skills (Phyton, VBA or similar).
- Familiarity with physical failure analysis techniques.
- Knowledge of reliability simulation and modeling tools.
- Understanding of customer qualification requirements and standards (e.g., JEDEC).
- Strong problem-solving skills and structured working approach.
- Excellent communication skills in English (C1); German is a plus., * Experience in semiconductor manufacturing or foundry environment.
- Experience in advanced technology nodes (<90 nm) and related applications (e.g., embedded NVM, RF, analog/mixed-signal, HV/BCD).
- Hands-on experience with EDA-based EM/IR (Electromigration / IR-drop) analysis and sign-off methodologies including mission profile analysis.
