Job description

As a Senior Scala Engineer, you'll play a key role in designing and developing highly scalable backend systems, influencing technical direction, and helping to shape the future of a rapidly growing engineering organisation.

Working alongside some of the industry's strongest engineers, you'll tackle complex distributed systems challenges, optimise performance at scale, and contribute to a culture that values innovation, ownership and technical excellence.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Designing and building high-performance backend services using Scala
  • Developing distributed systems capable of operating at significant scale
  • Driving architecture decisions and influencing engineering best practice
  • Collaborating with product, platform and infrastructure teams
  • Mentoring engineers and contributing to a culture of continuous improvement
  • Identifying opportunities to improve system reliability, scalability and performance
  • Participating in technical discussions and long-term platform strategy

Requirements

Are you a Senior Scala Engineer who thrives on solving complex engineering challenges at scale?, I'm particularly interested in speaking with engineers who have experience working withinFAANG organisationsor similarly recognised high-scale technology companies, where engineering excellence, scalability and software craftsmanship are fundamental to success., * Strong commercial experience developing software with Scala

  • Background building scalable, cloud-native applications and distributed systems
  • Experience working within a FAANG organisation or another high-performing, large-scale technology environment
  • Strong understanding of software architecture, microservices and event-driven systems
  • Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP or Azure
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
  • Passion for engineering excellence and delivering high-quality software
