Job description

The Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) Infrastructure Team is seeking a DevOps Engineer to design, build, and operate the ground-station platform that supports both SBIRS and the Next-Gen GEO OPIR ground stations. You will work hand-in-hand with infrastructure engineers and mission specialists to automate provisioning, configuration, and continuous-delivery pipelines for ultra-reliable, secure, and scalable ground-systems., Designing and implementing solutions using IaC, automation tools, and DevSecOps methodologies to facilitate the deployment, maintenance, and operation of OPIR Ground System infrastructure Working with software developers and test engineers to deploy, integrate, test, and support complex systems built from internally developed software products, across multiple operational environments Maintaining multiple technology stacks built on top of several forms of virtualized infrastructure, and ensuring that our various container baselines meet all technical as well as security hardening requirements Driving the continued improvement of our Ground System baseline through the application of modern DevSecOps standards, principles, theories, concepts, and techniques, Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Requirements

This is an EARLY-MID (level 3) ROLE where candidates typically have 3+ years of professional experience and a BS degree., Proficiency with Git and Git based development workflows. Knowledge of with Ansible and/or Terraform, or familiarity with other IaC toolsets. Familiarity with Python, Bash, or other shell scripting languages. Hands on experience using, troubleshooting, and/or administering Linux operating systems Demonstrated ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams, effectively communicate technical concepts, generate and maintain technical documentation, foster teamwork, and drive shared solutions to meet project objectives. Active Sec+ or ability to obtain within 60-90 days of onboarding. Active Secret clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance.

Desired skills

Familiarity with containerization concepts and the use of Docker and/or Podman. Knowledge of container orchestration platforms - Kubernetes and/or OpenShift. Experience writing and maintaining Helm charts for deployment to the above platforms. Understanding of software classifications and controls (COTS, GOTS, FOSS, etc.) within secure operating environments. Experience with GitLab and Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence). Experience with static code analysis tools (Fortify, SonarQube, Coverity, etc.). Familiarity with vSphere or AWS for on prem or cloud virtualization. Basic understanding of networking diagnostics and concepts. Prior DevOps or automation focused software development background. Understanding of CI/CD concepts and the orchestration of pipelines using GitLab or Jenkins. Active TS/SCI clearance.
