within the department (Trainee Design Engineer, Design Engineer, and Senior Design Engineer); the broad expectation is that the Senior Design Engineer is able to work with minimum requirement for input from more senior members of the team while assisting and mentoring/positively influencing more junior members.Key ResponsibilitiesUndertaking a wide variety of engineering design from updating existing designs to working on new designs in line with business needs; this position takes the lead technical role as appropriate to ensure delivery of quality productOverseeing the development of new technology within the product line. This may include design work or onboarding of third party designs. The role will serve as product champion during the development / onboarding phasesDesigning to requirements, standards and specifications as defined ensuring appropriate cost and quality of product; identifying when/where existing standards don't exist and driving development of said standardsLeading structured design reviews to ensure the expertise of other personnel is considered and implemented in designsInputting to specifications as required, and ensuring a full specification is available and understood prior to commencing workProducing the relevant supporting documentation to ensure verification of designDesign models and drawingsCalculationsAssisting with regulatory submission and Certification FilesTest Plans, Procedures and ReportsOperations and Maintenance ManualsOther technical documentation as requiredAssisting with technical support, checking/approving the work of other Design Engineers or Design Draughters, as appropriateOverseeing hands-on work during assembly and testing of prototype or new designsSupervision/mentoring of Draughters/(Trainee) Design Engineers on specific tasks and tracking their project tasks on larger projects (where appropriate)Supporting of Field TestingStaying abreast of developments in new technology and techniques with respect to
Requirements
The job holder is expected to work accurately and within planned timescales, working to specific deadlines on a wide variety of equipment from the Well Intervention product line offerings, including pressure control equipment, hydraulic control/injection units, downhole tools and ancillaries as required, as well as other equipment that falls within the company development portfolio and roadmap. The role requires the job holder to work accurately under pressure.The Job holder must strive to meet department objectives and on time delivery which may place demands on time resulting in occasional additional hours being required. Attention to detail and a systematic approach to design data/information control is required. The role of Senior Design Engineer is primarily office based but domestic and foreign travel may be required to support client specific projects or internal development/training requirements, so an element of flexibility is required.There are three levels of Design Engineer, the Hunting product lines and the broader industrySupporting and promoting continuous improvement in Engineering processes and standardsProviding cover and support to the department as and when neededQualifications, Skills and experienceDegree in Engineering (preferably Mechanical), supported by demonstrable and significant experienceProduct knowledge of oilfield surface and/or downhole equipmentExperience in designing oilfield products e.g. hydraulic control units, pressure control equipment, wireline/slickline tools, structural frames, through tubing tools or portable hydraulic power skidsProficient in using 2D or 3D CAD software, ideally Autodesk InventorAble to perform calculations/analysis pertaining to the product design using appropriate software e.g. MathCAD, MS Excel, Ansys, etcKnowledge of material selection including metals, plastics and elastomers for oilfield useExcellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office applicationsHighly proficient in spoken and written EnglishFull Driving LicenceProfessional Membership, or working towards, a recognised engineering institution and/or the ability to satisfy the requirements for Chartered EngineerExposure to failure analysisKnowledge and experience of an ERP system, ideally Microsoft Dynamics 365Personal QualitiesAttention to detail and a systematic approach to designAbility to drive a project or design forward through good relationships with other team members and other teamsExcellent communication (both written and oral), influencing and interpersonal skillsHigh degree of commercial acumenHighly professional conductGood team working skills and a high level of autonomyKeen to learn and developMust be willing to travel and able to spend time away from home #J-18808-Ljbffr
