A technology company developing advanced hardware and software platforms is seeking a Lead DevOps Engineer to drive the evolution of its development infrastructure, CI/CD ecosystem, and engineering productivity initiatives.
This role combines technical leadership with hands-on DevOps expertise. The successful candidate will lead a team of DevOps engineers while acting as a key interface between software, hardware, and IT organizations. The position focuses on ensuring reliable development environments, scalable infrastructure, and efficient delivery pipelines across complex engineering programs., Team Leadership & Strategy
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of DevOps engineers.
- Support hiring activities, including technical interviews and onboarding.
- Define and maintain the tooling and infrastructure roadmap in collaboration with engineering and business stakeholders.
- Prioritize requests, allocate resources, and provide regular status reporting.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and operational excellence.
CI/CD & Infrastructure Management
- Ensure the availability, reliability, and continuous improvement of key development tools and platforms.
- Manage and evolve CI/CD environments, including:
- Build automation
- Continuous integration
- Automated testing
- Deployment workflows
- Oversee compute infrastructure supporting engineering workflows and CI pipelines.
- Plan capacity requirements and ensure long-term infrastructure scalability.
- Optimize resource utilization and system performance.
Developer Productivity & Automation
- Collaborate with software and hardware teams to design and optimize development workflows.
- Improve developer productivity through automation, tooling enhancements, and process improvements.
- Develop and maintain dashboards, monitoring systems, and reporting tools.
- Reduce CI/CD noise and improve issue visibility through:
- Automated alerting
- Trend analysis
- Failure monitoring
Monitoring & Observability
- Implement and maintain observability solutions for engineering infrastructure.
- Track infrastructure health, performance, and operational metrics.
- Drive proactive identification and resolution of bottlenecks.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Serve as the primary contact for engineering teams regarding tooling and CI/CD processes.
- Work closely with IT teams on:
- Infrastructure management
- Security requirements
- Networking and access controls
- Gather requirements and communicate changes effectively across teams.
- Promote DevOps best practices and engineering standards.
Requirements
- Degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, or related field.
- 7+ years of experience in:
- DevOps
- Software engineering
- Infrastructure engineering
- Platform engineering
- Experience leading or mentoring engineering teams.
Technical Skills
CI/CD & Source Control
- Strong experience with CI/CD platforms such as:
- Jenkins
- GitLab CI
- Similar enterprise automation solutions
- Expertise in:
- Pipeline-as-Code methodologies
- Source control systems (Git)
- Code review and branching workflows
Infrastructure & Systems
- Strong Linux system administration skills.
- Experience managing large-scale engineering infrastructure.
- Knowledge of capacity planning and infrastructure scalability.
Automation & Development
- Proficiency in scripting and automation using:
- Python
- Bash
- Groovy
- Ruby
- Experience with infrastructure automation and operational tooling.
Containers & Observability
- Experience with:
- Docker and containerized environments
- Monitoring and observability platforms
- Metrics collection and visualization tools
Collaboration Tools
- Familiarity with project tracking and engineering workflow platforms.
