Job description
- Define and maintain the enterprise data architecture, including conceptual, logical, and physical data models built on Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure SQL Database, and Microsoft Fabric that support analytics, operational, and regulatory needs.
- Design end-to-end data platforms spanning ingestion (Azure Data Factory, Azure Event Hubs, Azure IoT Hub), storage (Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2, OneLake), transformation (Azure Databricks, Synapse Spark, Fabric Data Engineering), and serving layers (Azure Synapse SQL, Power BI, Azure Analysis Services) across Azure and hybrid environments.
- Establish data modeling standards (dimensional, data vault, normalized) and reference architectures for the lakehouse (Delta Lake on Databricks/Fabric), warehouse (Synapse dedicated SQL pools, Fabric Warehouse), and streaming patterns (Azure Stream Analytics, Event Hubs, Fabric Real-Time Intelligence).
- Define controls for data security, encryption, access management, and retention using Azure Key Vault, Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure AD), Azure RBAC, and Purview data protection in alignment with financial-services regulations (e.g., GLBA, SOX, PCI-DSS, GDPR/CCPA).
- Establish patterns for data quality, observability, and reconciliation using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Purview Data Quality, and Databricks/Fabric native tooling to support audit and regulatory reporting requirements., We are seeking a Data Architect to design and scale enterprise data and Power BI architecture as the organization modernizes its data platform and moves to Azure and Microsoft Fabric. This role will establish trusted, governed analytics by building canonical data models, semantic layers, and enterprise standards that support self-service BI while ensuring data accuracy-especially for regulated domains such as credit risk., * Architect and govern enterprise Power BI environments, including workspaces, datasets, and semantic models
- Design and enforce canonical data models and semantic layers to ensure consistent, certified reporting
- Partner with data governance leadership to support data quality, certification, and usage standards
- Support the evolution of the data warehouse and data marts as the platform transitions from SQL Server to Azure
- Help establish and mature the BI Center of Excellence, defining standards, best practices, and reusable patterns
- Guide teams away from ad-hoc data usage toward approved enterprise views and datasets
Requirements
- Strong experience architecting Power BI at enterprise scale
- Proven background in data modeling (dimensional, canonical, semantic layer design)
- Experience working within the Microsoft data stack (SQL Server, Power BI; Azure concepts strongly preferred)
- Ability to balance self-service BI with governance and data quality controls
- Excellent communication skills and ability to operate as a hands-on architect in a lean team
Nice to Have
- Azure, Microsoft Fabric, or cloud data platform experience
- Financial services or banking analytics experience (credit risk a plus)
- Experience with data virtualization or governance tooling (e.g., Denodo)
