GCI's Network Engineer I will apply engineering principles tomultiple sub-groups within the Technology Solutions internal departments; responsible for architectural design, development, implementation, and support within the company and/or between business departments that follow telecommunication industry standards using engineering principles., * Ensures the integrity of high availability network infrastructure to provide maximum performance in design, implementation, and support.

Maximizes performance using network monitoring tools, troubleshooting network and/or system outages, scheduling updates, and collaborating with architects on optimization.

Provides detailed reports on network operational status, and milestones related to project completion.

Capable of remote site support for off-site personnel and customers.

Must be competent at performing basic engineering calculations, design, and implementation for further review by senior staff. Essential Duties for this position:
20% Configures equipment and infrastructure related to a specific technical discipline in support of network operations and projects.
20% Supports and manages escalations.
15% Provides remote support for off-site personnel and customers.

- Participant in troubleshooting bridges by providing guidance to coworkers, customers, or vendors and cross pillar collaboration with other engineering, administrative and technical groups.
- Responsible for identifying and developing solutions that resolve and improve the efficiencies of an incident break fix, move add change deletions (MACD) requests and logical maintenance activities through process, procedures, training, documentation, or automation.
- Develop best practices and procedures related to account management, access authorization & validation, and mitigation & remediation of any identified security vulnerabilities.
- Responsible for review and recommendations of hardware critical sparing, vendor procurement activities and third-party software and hardware maintenance support.
- Experience, ongoing training and focus on the included technology addendums.
- Required to be available for on call or after-hours support for emergency call outs performed by SMC (Service Management Center).

Requirements
- RESULTS - Uses a combination of knowledge, initiative, sound decision making, innovation, adaptability, and problem solving. Ability to provide training to team members on technology.
- MS Office knowledge (e.g., Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel). Knowledge of standard network engineering concepts. Ability to create and edit network diagrams., Required: *A combination of relevant work experience and/or education sufficient to perform the duties of the job may substitute to meet the total years required on a year-for-year basis
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Technologies, Electrical Engineering, or relevant field. *
- Minimum of one (1) year experience in the field or related background. *
Preferred:
- Experience within the telecommunications industry.
- Other telecom industry or job specific certifications.
DRIVING REQUIREMENTS:
This position may require access to reliable transportation for occasional travel, such as between retail store locations, offices, worksites, or other locations as needed.
