Job description

You are a data engineer who is responsible for building, maintaining, and keeping operational the data pipelines and integrations that supply the Microsoft Fabric platform with data. This role forms the technical backbone of the platform: without a reliable data supply, no other part of the data organization functions. The Data Engineer works within the architectural frameworks established by the Data Governance Board and advised by the Data Platform Lead. You switch easily between scripting and structured programming in typed programming languages, and you're familiar with software engineering, cloud, provisioning, streaming, and automation. You know how to build robust, scalable systems ready for real-world use., You will be responsible for implementing foundational data systems and developing cloud infrastructure to store, transform, and process data at scale. Always with security, reliability, and future growth in mind.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Terraform?, You use your communication skills as much as your technical skills. You explain your design choices, align stakeholders, and help client teams make confident and informed decisions about their data landscape. You will be surrounded by experts from diverse fields and learn from different environments and industries. It's not always easy, but it is always rewarding. You will be working long-term with one of our clients., The Data Engineer role is a senior position integral to our teams, so we ask for at least 3 years of relevant work experience. That said, we care more about impact than years. If you have unique achievements, like contributing to open-source projects or founding your own startup, we encourage you to apply, no matter your experience level.

Technical skills matter, but so is the culture we create together. We're looking for like-minded people who genuinely enjoy taking ownership, sharing knowledge, and contributing in an environment where everyone can feel welcome, included, and supported., You enjoy working with modern new data (infrastructure) tools such as Airflow, Dagster, Spark, Flink, Fabric, Docker, Terraform, and more!

You understand the importance of cloud (any of AWS, Azure, or GCP) and know your way around, or want to learn. You like working for different clients and enjoy learning in new environments and meeting new people on a regular basis in various locations.

You enjoy sharing knowledge. We write, speak, and teach because it's part of who we are.

Fluent command of Dutch and English., You do not want to become an authority. You are hesitant to take a proactive approach and bring your ideas forward.

You don't like working under pressure to get things done in the best way possible.

You do not like coding, scripting, templating or working with open-source technology

You prefer to work alone and get drained from having to explain why you made certain technical choices.

You want to change clients rapidly.

You are not located in Belgium and cannot accommodate the required on-site presence of approximately three days per week.
