DevOps Engineer, Ransomware Recovery | Amsterdam | 12-Month Contract | Hybrid We are partnering with a leading European financial institution to find an experienced DevOps Engineer to join a specialised Security & Infrastructure squad in Amsterdam. This is a high-impact, technically demanding role focused on building and operating a Cleanroom environment, the bank's last line of defence in the event of a ransomware attack. You will be working on infrastructure that supports 21,000 VMs and nearly 20 PB of data across Europe and the Americas, serving thousands of applications and millions of customers. The role: As part of a small, expert team, you will design, implement, automate, and maintain a largely autonomous Cleanroom environment capable of analysing, cleansing, and rapidly recovering affected systems following a ransomware incident. Your remit covers both application data and infrastructure configuration, with a strong emphasis on security, recovery readiness, and end-to-end automation. You will also be responsible for the day-to-day support of the Cleanroom environment, including incident, problem, and change management, as well as ensuring systems consistently meet security standards.
Requirements
VMware Aria Automation (essential) - Ransomware resilience strategies, including recovery planning, immutable backups, and air gapping - Security hardening best practices - Role-based access control (RBAC) and privilege management - Understanding of common malware techniques and attacker behaviour - Vulnerability management and risk assessment - Cryptography, certificate handling, and secrets management - Network segmentation design and implementation - Terraform (preferred) - Ansible (advantageous)
