Job description
We are looking for a Data Scientist with expertise in Artificial Intelligence to take a key role in designing, developing, and deploying advanced AI solutions. You will work with modern technologies, contribute to end-to-end project delivery, and support the development of AI capabilities across the organisation.
Responsibilities:

Lead the design, development, and implementation of AI solutions, with a focus on foundation models and large language models

Work with senior colleagues to shape cognitive computing approaches and support the full lifecycle of AI projects

Perform exploratory data analysis, feature engineering, and model evaluation for both structured and unstructured data

Apply advanced analytics techniques, including natural language processing and machine learning, to generate insights and support decision-making

Requirements
Bachelor's Degree
Required technical and professional expertise
- Strong proficiency in Python and experience with AI frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Keras
Strong proficiency in Python, familiarity with popular libraries, and the standard ML Python stack.
Knowledge of frameworks for building complex ML models (e.g. TensorFlow, PyTorch or Keras)
Ability to preprocess and feature engineer data (cleaning, transformation, feature extraction)
Ability to deploy and serve models in prod ready environments (requiring knowledge of containerisation, orchestration, and model serving platforms - docker, Kubernetes, TensorFlow etc).
Familiar with model interpretability and explainability and techniques to interpret and explain model results (e.g. SHAP, LIME) *
Exp in Machine Learning (must be confident about what they're stating).
Familiarity with ML Ops - not just build models but build it in the right way & deploys it
- In-depth understanding of foundation models and large language models
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and related services
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
- Proven track record of delivering AI solutions in a professional setting
This role is subject to pre-employment screening in line with the UK Government's Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS). An additional range of Personal Security Controls referred to as National Security Vetting (NVS) may apply, this could include meeting the eligibility requirements for The Security Check (SC) or Developed Vetting (DV).
Preferred technical and professional experience
- Experience with generative AI models
- Knowledge of modern UI frameworks (Backbone.js, AngularJS, React.js, Ember.js, Bootstrap, JQuery)
- Familiarity with relational and NoSQL databases (SQL, Postgres, DB2, MongoDB)
