As a Infrastructure Engineer Sr within PNC's Technology organization, you will be based in Birmingham, AL, Dallas, TX, Cleveland, OH, Phoenix, AZ or Pittsburgh, PA.
PNC will not provide sponsorship for employment visas or participate in STEM OPT for this position., * Provides expertise on platform engineering, while overseeing the team's effort and meeting customer needs. Uses technical knowledge and industry experience to design, build and maintain technology solutions.
- Develops software components and hardware for complex projects; aligns these with business strategies and objectives.
- Provides expertise on best practices, standards, engineering approaches and complex technical resolutions for processes.
- Places emphasis on quality improvement efforts; ensures that deliverables are secure, scalable and reliable through estimation and correction.
- Communicates with customers and integrates their needs with development, to meet business objectives.

Requirements
Deep expertise in enterprise infrastructure design, implementation, and operations, including compute, storage, and networking platforms
Strong knowledge of Windows Server and Linux operating systems, including performance tuning, patching, and lifecycle management
Experience supporting 24×7 production environments with on-call and after-hours support responsibilities
Advanced troubleshooting skills across hardware, OS, virtualization, and network layers
Networking & Connectivity
Solid understanding of LAN/WAN architecture, routing, switching, DNS, DHCP, and load balancing
Experience working with firewalls, VPNs, and secure remote access solutions
Ability to partner with network and security teams to ensure resilient, secure connectivity
Virtualization & Cloud
Hands-on experience with virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V, or equivalent)
Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure concepts (IaaS, PaaS, hybrid architectures)
Experience supporting or transitioning workloads to cloud platforms such as Azure (Windows 365) or AWS
Familiarity with cloud governance, cost management, and operational best practices in a multi-cloud or hybrid environment
Disaster Recovery & Resilience
Proven experience in disaster recovery (DR) and business continuity planning, including design, testing, and execution
Ability to assess infrastructure risks and design highly available and fault-tolerant solutions
Participation in DR exercises and real-world incident recovery
Automation & Tooling
Experience with infrastructure automation and scripting (PowerShell, Bash, or similar)
Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) concepts and tools (e.g., ARM, Terraform, or equivalent)
Understanding of monitoring, logging, and alerting tools to ensure operational health
Security & Compliance
Strong security mindset with experience implementing least-privilege access, hardening standards, and secure configurations
Collaboration with security teams on vulnerability remediation and compliance requirements
Understanding of infrastructure security controls in both on-prem and cloud environments
Technical Leadership & Collaboration
Acts as a technical escalation point for complex infrastructure issues
Mentors junior engineers and contributes to knowledge sharing and operational documentation
Partners effectively with application, cloud, network, and security teams on cross-functional initiatives
Process, Documentation & Change Management
Experience working within ITIL or similar operational frameworks (incident, problem, and change management)
Produces and maintains clear technical documentation, diagrams, and standards
Participates in infrastructure planning, upgrades, and modernization efforts

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to explain complex topics to technical and non-technical audiences
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
